Default Monsters- Best low-budget movie ever?

Anyone else seen it?

Six years after Earth has suffered an alien invasion a cynical journalist agrees to escort a shaken American tourist through an infected zone in Mexico to the safety of the US border.
Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmR-l3y_coo

Was made with a total budget of $15,000 and wow it looks like a hollywood movie. Crazy cinematography, great special effects and solid acting. Was pretty much a crew of 3 people, the director Gareth Edwards (who shot everything, wrote the script and did the editing) and the two actors, traveling from south america up to the USA, shooting all the scenes on the move using whatever local inhabitants were about at the time as extras and actors.

Pretty simple plot, but it works, mixture between cloverfield and district 9. Would definitely recommend it.

Hopefully a studio will give Gareth Edwards a real budget, would be crazy to see what he can produce based off this project.

I saw it but (SPOILERS)

i thought the CGI creatures at the end looked awful and made it feel silly to me
.

It was a good film though, definitely worth seeing. And the fact it's only cost $15k is remarkable.

I thought they weren't too bad, was it the fact that were modelled after SPOILER: giant octopus or the actual CGI?

Yeah i loved the soundtrack, was a big part of setting the mood throughout the movie and definitely drew me into some scenes.

Was rather predictable and a generic storyline, but it worked and i still can't get over the budget which is why i rate it so highly.

One thing i didn't like: White text so don't read if you haven't seen it
How the beginning is the end, with the marine humming the same tune and them going to pick up a female and male, they are then attacked and you see the guy holding the chicks limp body (assuming shes dead/injured) plus the "using the hellfires will cause extra collateral damage" = they all dead?

In white:

It's open to interpretation but I think it goes without saying that they all died.

It's probably not the best low budget movie ever, but it is probably the best pound-for-pound low budget movie ever, if that makes any sense.
