The appeal process for both the Saints bounties, and the Skins/Cowboys penalties are in front of the same people (The owner for Payton, the collective owners for the Skins/Cowboys) who gave them the penalty in the first place.
When my daughter doesn't eat dinner and i say "NO ICE CREAM" and she begs for it, is that an appeal process?
Just for anyone who thinks the "appeals" will work out. The Skins/Cowboys make more sense because at least they could threaten legal action (which they won't go through with mind you). Payton though, he is basically going to ask Goodell "are you really sure?".
Yea, the owner of the Giants colluding with teams to artificially set a cap and then screwing division rivals over it is no great shakes. No grounds to appeal at all.

Two things
1) Grounds to appeal and the appeal process being a sham are two different things. Yes you have grounds. But the process is a sham. What do you want me to say? Goodell is in charge of the appeal process, just like when the players appeal suspensions. What do you think happens?
2) The "Giants colluding" is something you are pulling from one place that you are gravitating toward because it's a rival. It's not something being wildly reported. However if you want to believe it be my guest, as i guess the Giants beating the Cowboys is pretty normal anyway.

They tried to set a cap when there was no legal allowance for one. By doing so and admitting it by penalizing the Cows and Skins they are admitting to collusion against the players. Nice job getting that out in the open Mr Mara. The NFLPA loves you too.
Btw it wasn't Goodell that fined the teams. It was the NFL Management Council. Who heads that up? Why it's Giants owner John Mara. Yea. No massive conflict of interest there. No way he is purposely screwing division owners.

John Mara is a leader there because the Giants historically work in the interests of the owners. Jerry Jones works in the interests of the Cowboys. IF you would like Jerry Jones to have more influence, he needs to act as if the Cowboys are not a separate entity that needs to be taken care of first and foremost.
What is your complaint here? That Mara pushed something through the other owners did not want? You are trying to make this something the Giants caused to happen, QFT. The hardcore, cap happy owners who want spending down and everyone to behave are well documented, and not the Giants.
You got warned, you didn't listen, you got slapped. Is it shady? Yep. Do i feel bad? No, i think its hilarious. Jerry Jones thinks he's a genius, tried to take advantage, and lost.

It still has to go to arbitration.
The facts are that it was illegal for the owners to try and set a cap. It was never in writing. The contracts were approved by the NFL.

Jerry and Snyder did absolutely nothing wrong.
They were told that the cap would not change much, and if they frontloaded contracts their could be repercussions later on, because it would create a competitive disadvantage in the cap. EVERY TEAM was told. Jerry laughed. The Redskins really laughed. The other owners took note, and ****ed you over.
Enjoy being in the right. You were legally right, and bad business partners, and your other business partners decided to **** you over. AND will get away with it.
Well if we were legally right, I don't need to worry about anything. Punishing teams over imaginary rules. Thats gonna go over well in court
It depends on what the rules are set up. If the Cowboys/Redskins agree to let the commissioner decide this then what are you suggesting? They go to court to argue the fact the commission can decide this is not correct? Really? You think they will do this to get cap space?

Skins and Boys need to work together on this one. I know Snyder and Jones are friends so we need to all get our money back.
John Mara is a b!tch for this. Team just won the Bowl and he wanna complain about competitive advantages just cuz the two riches teams in the league took advantage of the indecision of the salary cap and paid a boat load of cash in a year where there was no cap.
DAL and WSH need to put their rivalry aside like Magneto and Professor X did and take down William Stryker (Goodell).

Isn't America a capitalistic society?
Mara just mad becuz he doesn't bring in the stacks Dallas and Washington does in the biggest market in the USA and his team is the reigning Champs. He's mad from a business perspective, not an owner's 'fair game' perspective

If it was just Mara this would not pass, he does not have cache to get something done without the consent of the owners.
You tried to get away with something that was within the rules but was intended to give yourself a competitive advantage by circumventing the way the NFL cap rules work. The league went back and counted the money you spent as spread as if there was a cap this year.
Again, you were well within your rights to do so, but you were warned, and you were bad partners. There are 32 partners, 2 decided to try to get an advantage, and the other 30 smacked you for it.
I'm having trouble garnering sympathy that your attempt to gain an advantage failed.
