I know this is a super old thread, but why would you give anybody anything if they argue with you for 10 minutes prior. If somebody is going to be that much of a pain in the ass, I sure wouldn't lend them anything.

lol i've been at the courts where people don't bring their own ball and once you're done and about to roll the whole game has to end, and then they start begging u to use it and give it back to u later. its probably happened to a lot of people at some point but i learned a long time ago to just be like "sorry i got to go" and take the ball. don't even give them an explanation, just grab your ball and leave. the longer u sit there trying to justify it to them the more they'll try to argue or guilt trip you to leave it. i've always had pretty worn down basketballs tho so losing a new one that way would suck.
