At what age would you have considered yourself independent?
And I don't mean independent as in just moving out and supporting yourself, but being completely okay with being on your own knowing that you could handle your business and take charge of your life... Independent as in not needing anybody else to justify your existence. Independent as in accepting yourself and not worrying about impressing anybody.
I'm asking because I'm almost 25 and I finally feel like I have turned the corner... and it's a great feeling. I had a full time job at age 22 and could have moved out and supported myself, but I was in no rush to be on my own. It wasn't something I was interested in. I would only move out if it was with someone else. Now... I am back working full time and I want to move into my own place with just me and nobody else. Of course one doesn't have to live on their own to be/feel independent, I just feel like I do - at least for a while. I also don't know if I would of felt independent if I had my own place at 22... I think I just would have felt lonely.
In regards to that last part and my own personal experience, independence seems to be a feeling, not a set of circumstances.
