Is effort an issue?
I'll go ahead and admit it, for the last couple seasons the effort level of the starters has seemed to be diminishing. It was a huge problem in the playoffs last year and the Milwaukee game seemed to showcase this totally.
Sure our starters are talented, but lets not kid ourselves, it was always outhustling the opposing team that made the Pistons special.
I think this is still a great team even without Ben Wallace, I think this group is capable of competing on a championship level if they put their hearts into it. I'm just not sure their hearts are into it anymore. Talent isn't enough in sports anymore. Desire is what creates winners.
I don't want to jump the gun. I know they've only played one game this season, and really nothing matters until playoff time, but in my opinion Desire and Effort is something that has to be created now and built throughout the season. They have proven time and again they can't just flip on the switch when they want and still win a championship.
