And is Kurt Thomas goin to be the starting center. If thomas starts then diaw of the bench is it? I reckon they should start diaw at 5 an marion back at 3.
I would like to see Kurt off the bench because I really enjoyed seeing what Diaw can do and I think him an Amare can create problems together.
On the other hand Kurt was brought in to compliment Amare, free up Amare, and to both hold down the low key. We have never seen them together yet so we dont know really how that would work out. Kurt has shown he can anchor a defense and brings that mind set onto the court. If healthy he can pull his wieght on offense too.
boris is on the rise, he's young, he as well is a good defender, he's just better than kurt in the first place and he will complement amare more than kurt will, if amare and kurt are on the floor at the same time the other team will worry mainly about amare but if amare and boris are on the floor you got bigger problems cuz boris has two options score or dish to amare, kurt cant give you that, even though this sounds like im taking away alot of credit from kurt he will still be solid, off the bench
I agree, diaw can do alot more than thomas, what were his stats like when he was playin the 5 spot: 14-7-6 an few blocks, steals or whatever. If he improves those stats then him an Amare will be a killer combo, throw in Marion aswell, damn!
diaw will and should start over thomas, but hes not the 5. Ur lineup should be this:
pg: nash
sg: bell
sf: marion (sf on offense, pf on defense)
pf: diaw (pf on offense, sf on defense)
c: stoudemire
Does it really matter? Amare, Diaw and Marion are interchangable except for Marion at center.
I think that will be the usual starters, Thomas may start against bigger teams, but he is getting up there in age anyways and can't run with the Suns. He is on the team for one reason, Playoffs.
6th man: Barbosa
7th man: Kurt Thomas
8th man: James Jones
Kurt Thomas will be come very valuable during the playoffs if healthy. His defense and veteran presence was greatly missed. Also, he will help a lot with the foul trouble the Suns suffered in the playoffs. If Amare is in foul trouble, Kurt steps in for him. If Diaw is in foul trouble, Amare switches with him and Kurt takes him off. If Marion is in foul trouble, Kurt comes in, Diaw becomes the SF and Amare becomes the PF.
I'm pretty sure Diaw would start. He can also be moved to another position when Kurt enters the game if needs be. If the Suns keep Kurt, they can always start him against bigger teams if needs be. He will be valuable in the playoffs because his actually plays big, something they didn't have last season.
I think they should just shuffle Diaw and Thomas in relation to the opponents they are facing. If they are facing big teams like San An, Clippers, and the Nuggets who like to pound it inside, start Thomas. If they play smaller jump shooting teams, Diaw is your man. Both will be an integral part of the team.
but i believe that diaw will consistently start throughout the season, however when we do face teams like the Spurs and Clips, Kurt will have more minutes and the rotation up front will be heavier
