I think heís top five.
But to add context, itís hard to rank Bill Russell, given he was in the fundamental stages of basketball where it wasnít fully developed. I rank everything post ABA and NBA merger. Which is essentially the birth of the modern game.
I also personally find Kareem overrated, as well as Wilt Chamberlain.
I think everything after 2013 is the postmodern NBA. Where ridiculous stats are being put up with high pace, and now the three ball being almost exclusively the focus of the game. Which makes ranking Westsbrick and Harden difficult for me.
The only players I can definitively say I would take over LeBron, if Iím being totally honest, is obviously Jordan with a bullet. Who is so clearly number one all time, itís not even funny. And then Magic / Bird and MAYBE Russell. But like I said itís difficult to rank him.
So concretely MJ / Magic / Bird over LeBron
And then arguments for Kareem or Duncan depending on your fancy. Even though I think both those dudes are slightly overrated.
After the 2016 NBA finals, I actually thought if LeBron managed to pull out another championship or two with in the past few years, I would easily rank him over Bird and Magic. But he continues to do things within context that keep me from being comfortable putting him at the number two spot all time.
