Default "Mike Tyson was not a great fighter" - Teddy Atlas

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-znMZPlBqBQ

Interesting reasoning, he says Tyson's lack of mental toughness was his downfall.

for a period of time tyson was the most dominant fighter in history

prime tyson would knock out anyone..even the great muhammad ali

i will agree his career is lacking as a whole but to say he was never great is just insulting

my personal pick for GOAT is prime roy jones jr, floyd for his career as whole

Great analysis.

When Tyson faced the truly elite, he folded when met with resistance.

Great entertainer and big time puncher, but certainly not a top 10 GOAT.

If Cus DíAmato never died Tyson would have been the GOAT

Off thing about the idea that prime Tyson would beat anyone...is him not beating everyone. He lost to Buster douglas so we just artificially end his prime there instead of just saying...he lost. He was 24. Long as we conveniently end a guys prime once they lose isnt everyone undefeated in their prime?

Lol Teddy almost smoked Tyson when he was a kid. A bit bitter in his old age but Tyson was definitely a mental midget. Just like in punchout once you could withstand the initial onslaught and physically bully Iron Mike a bit you could get into his head.

That said young Tyson was fun to watch.

The "potentially great fighter" version of Tyson was untested. A classic story of could have would have.

It's like if Michael Jordan played up till '86-'87 season and then get career ending injury in the middle of the season.

I would never take Atlas opinion on Tyson. He has personal vendetta against Tyson.
