Why the f*ck has this thread turned into yet another Kobe debate? Why the f*ck does every thread in this forum have to turn into a Kobe/Lebron/Duncan debate?

I agree with the threadstarter, Tmac was arguably the best individual player in the game back then. It's really a shame to see him in the position he's in now given the immense potential he had. Should be going for his 3rd ring imo.

Why is his PER so much higher then Lebron 05-06?

He scored a bit more, had less turnovers, and did it in 3 less minutes.

T-Mac is the most gifted NBA player ever in raw ability. When he's healthy noone
makes the game look as easy as he does.If T-mac never had to play in Orlando w/o Grant Hill he would have been like Scottie Pippen with more offense because his D was sick back then.Alot of people forget how good T-Macs D was.

yes, because per = answer to all makind's problems. the only statistic mcgrady had on bryant was points (and he only outscored bryant by 2 points), while kobe was the better defender. bryant led his team to the better record and lost to the eventual champion. tmac was out in the first round.

One of the better all around seasons I've seen by a shooting guard. 32.1 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 5.5 apg, 1.6 spg, 0.8 bpg, 46 FG%, 39 3P%, 79 FT%. Not to mention great defense and leading what should have been one of the worst teams in the East to the playoffs. T-Mac did everything that year. Not only did he put up amazing numbers as far as scoring, rebounds and assists but he did it on great percentages. One knock against T-Mac has often been that he is not very efficient but that season he was draining 3's with the best in the league and he shot about as high of percentage as a high scoring SG not named Jordan could.

T-Mac's 01'-02' season is VERY underrated too. T-Mac led Orlando to a 44-38 record making the playoffs and averaging 25.6 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 5.3 apg, 1.6 spg, 1.0 bpg, 46 FG%, 36 3P% and 75 FT%. Come on pretty much 8 rebounds per game by a guard??! That is amazing. Not to mention he scored a lot but he was efficient too and he set up his teammates while playing excellent defense.

Yup, probably the most naturally gifted player ever not named Jordan

Poor work ethic and injuries ruined what could have been the GOAT

It's a joke now that people really think Pierce/Carter were better in their prime.

How would one know he has poor work ethic, just a question?

He and Kobe we're on some next level ish that year.

kobe- 30/7/6
t mac-33/6/5

It was like they we're goin g back and forth all season long. That was the best rivalry in the NBA at that time right up there with KG and Duncan.

T-Mac was amazing that year. I remember the playoffs very well. He had the Magic up 3-1 on the Pistons. He was unstoppable. Then a little used rookie came in and things changed. Tayshaun Prince.
