Ugh! How dare you compare the two! Tyree's catch was based off of pure instinct and skill...the thought to clasp the ball onto his helmet in mid-air was nothing short of amazing.

Plus they were playing one of the greatest teams in NFL history, something the 2008 AZ Cardinals unequivocally were not. The fact that it was a playground like play makes it all that more special. Manning should've been on the ground, and Tyree had absolutely zero business catching it. They should've been facing 4th and 15 against a NE defense smelling blood. Instead they won the game.

Just my $0.02.

I can understand why you and others prefer the Tyree catch. The Plax catch cannot be compared to the Holmes catch, though. That was a relatively simple route, throw, and catch. Of course, he still had to make the play, which he did, but the skill was not near the level of the game-winner last night.

That is not a good way of looking at it. The Montana pass to Dwight Clark in the 1982 NFC Championship is a play that you may see every couple of weeks, as well. That isn't what made it great. The fact that everything was on the line is what makes that such a special play that people will remember forever.

Wait, wait, wait...

Are you insinuating that the unbelievable throw and catch last night was not as 'skilled' a play as the Manning toss to no one in particular and the catch, which Tyree publicly admits was lucky? There is no question which play displayed more 'skill.'

That pass and catch couldn't have been any more perfectly played last night. The play by Manning and Tyree was awesome, but 'skilled' isn't the word that immediately comes to mind...

3 defenders, not only catching the pigskin but holding onto it as you get both feet to touch inbounds because there was pretty much no room for error. He not only had to get both feet down but keep them inbounds as he was close to being out. That was an incredible catch. Tyree was nice but that game Holmes has made other catches comparable.

Heck I'm in the minority, a very small one. But go back to the safety called where Pitt held in the endzone. Before Holmes hit his break Big Ben threw a heat seeker missle. Soon as Holmes made his break and began to turn his head the ball was RIGHT THERE. It was even behind him and Holmes somehow had the prescence of mind to anticipate the pass not only coming to him but catch it behind him damn near with one hand.

It was funny to hear Big Ben said as soon as it left his hands he thought to himself "Interception! F*ck!" then when it wasnt "Yes! Touchdown!". hahahaaaaa Classic

That previous throw to Holmes in the endzone would have been if he had made that catch. Would have been Dwight Clark pt. 2
