Because he was carrying the goat scoring load in the 1998 Finals - specifically, he scored 38% of his team's points (a record), compared to only 29% for lebron in the 2016 and 2017 Finals.. Lebron's lighter scoring load and vastly inferior defense allows him to stat-pad lesser categories, which camoflauges his lower scoring burden compared to Jordan.

And Jordan's 33 ppg was goat because the series was played at 82 pace and 106 drtg, so he would've averaged over 40 points with a 100 pace and 115 drtg like the 2017 Finals.. .... or the 92 pace and 109 drtg in 2016 Finals..

Keep in mind that MJ's goat scoring load meant he faced goat defensive attention, especially since he scored 18 ppg more than his 2nd option.. Whereas lebron only scored 3 ppg and 5 ppg more than his 2nd option in 2016 and 2017 Finals, so his 2nd option commanded nearly the same attention and freed him up a ton.

Ultimately, the bulls needed MJ to carry the goat scoring load because pippen only averaged 15 ppg and rodman 4/8 in the 1998 Finals... so yeah, jordan had the goat series from a scoring perspective, literally carrying his team's offense in a brutally slow and grinding scoring environment.. And last but not least - he produced the greatest clutch sequence the game has ever seen to WIN that series..

1998 Finals, 33ppg on 27FGA while shooting 42%

2016 Finals, 29ppg on 23FGA while shooting 49% against a much tougher defense.

2017, 33ppg on 23FGA shooting 56% against a much tougher defense.

LOL @ 2 backcourt non-athletic midgets being referred to as "GOAT defensive attention."

Pippen avg. half the FGA attempts in 98 Finals cause that's all he was allowed to take. It was by design cause MJ would never dream of letting any teammate think about taking close to as many FGA as him, let alone more FGA.

2016 and 2017 Cleveland sweep those offensive starved Jazz teams MJ faced.

The 98' Jazz beat Popovich/Duncan/Robinson and their 56-win Spurs in 5 games, and then swept Shaq's 4 all-star Lakers for the second season in a row.

So they'd destroy Lebron-ball even worse than they destroyed stacked Duncan/Shaq teams..

Keep in mind that Lebron-ball loses to most teams (Mavs, Spurs, Warriors), and they lose whether they have less talent (2007, 2018), or not (2011, 2014).. And they all use systems to beat him, just like the Jazz would

So again, based on the 98' Jazz making the stacked Duncan/Shaq teams their bitch, I'm sure they'd destroy Lebron-ball, like everyone does

i probly already said this ... but

play defense

not cherry picking rebounds

make a NON assist pass

posted up more

not cared so much about triple doubles to avoid blame

gotten love going early and often

given kyrie more credit and treated him as an equal

not shy away from durant

don't get soft picked off of a screen

don't cry on the bench

don't quit in OT

don't let a role player lock you up

don't let a twig humiliate you in back to back finals

you know why I like watching kyrie irving highlights from his cleveland days?

because lebron james is over there standing in the corner doing nothing

the same thing he always does when the ball isn't in his hands

doesn't even go for a rebound opportunity

Funny you mention that. Every single player on the court knew that they weren't getting the ball once Kyrie got it. Shouldn't have tried to emulate Brickbe.

Play some damn Defense!

Dude is 6'8, 260, most athletic on the floor and is running away on cowardly switches from Durant. He is a disgrace to his own body.

The consensus seems to be play defense

Not ball dominate, stat pad, forsake defense, and quit on his team

2015; Cleveland was up 2 game to 1; Game 4 in Cleveland. Warriors win 103 to 82 to tie it at 2 games apiece.

Lebron shoots 7 out of 22 for 20 points.

Curry shoots 8 out of 17 for 22 points.
Iguodala soots 8 out of 15 for 22 points.
Klay shoots 4 out of 9 for 9 points.
Barnes shoots 4 out of 9 for 14 points.
Draymond shoots 6 out of 11 for 17 points.

Nothing spectacular.

Except...

Timofey Mozgov shoots 9 out of 16 for 28 points, and 10 rebounds.
Tristan Thompson shoots 6 out of 10 for 12 points and 13 rebounds.

They could destroyed Golden State if they just slowed it down, and gone to their bigs. Instead they let Dellavadova, Smith, and Shumpert take 35 shots.

That was a winnable series against an a team that had no previous playoff success. They weren't an unbeatable juggernaut, and if Lebron shot better than 39.8% for the series, they most likely win.
