Paul Pierce joining Wizards!
The Washington Wizards lost starting forward Trevor Ariza to Houston on Saturday and moved quickly to land a surprising replacement.
Paul Pierce joined the Wizards late Saturday night, taking a two-year deal for the mid-level exception (around $11 million total). The Bulls discovered during the playoffs that Washington is on the rise and Pierce, who turns 37 in October, is an interesting addition.

Newest Wizard Paul Pierce currently ranks 18th in scoring in NBA history. That means that four of the league’s 18 most prolific all-time scorers will have played for Washington: No. 3 Michael Jordan, No. 7 Moses Malone, No. 8 Elvin Hayes and now Pierce. Only Hayes, though, accomplished that feat while still in his 20s.
Ah yes, the age thing. Pierce is 36. Andre Miller is 38. That made them two of the league’s 14 oldest players last season. And several names on that list are unlikely to play next season. Of course, Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili are also on that list, and they add up to 73 years of greatness.
