Default Kawhi is PROVING that the mid-range game trumps all in the playoffs.

In this era of the 3 ball, Kawhi is proving the importance of the mid-range game. The 3 is too hit or miss and guys can get cold for long stretches and it's almost impossible to get to the rack in the playoffs. So what does an offensive player really have left? The mid-range game. Mastering this aspect means you have a super high pct shot to rely on at almost any possession.

This is what separate Kawhi from flawed players like Giannis and Curry. Let me explain with Curry. Almost all of Curry's game is within the flow. He's hit or miss when it comes to creating his own shot in half-court sets. This is where Kawhi shines. He can just hold that ball, dribble down the clock and pull up.

I think his defense has a lot to do with the way him and the raps are handling the Warriors as well.

He's also proving that he's a better midrange shooter than MJ

Derozan is pretty good at this.

He shows that Jordan would be dominant in the modern NBA. Kwahi is basically a poor man's version of Jordan, great player but less athleticism, slower first step, less offensive creativity.

But yes, he shows that the mid-range game can still be a superstar's bread and butter, some kids here who think all you need to do is shoot 3s ... learn to master that mid-range jumper is you want to be a good player. If you can make that shot, you can play in any situation.

Kawhi is getting any shot he wants in this soft era even in the finals. Imagine MJ in a league being able to get any shot he wanted unlike in the 90s. Fvck, hed probably have at least 3 games of 70 or more in any series he played in.

You gotta mix it up. Can't always chuck 3s every possession especially if they're not falling and ESPECIALLY if they're not getting open looks. A well-rounded attack is the most consistent. This was the Rocket's downfall. They were chucking so many 3s when they weren't even necessary. Just get a good look.

It's truly scary how much MJ would devastate in this no D era. With all that spacing, no physicality allowed and no shot blockers. Geez.

This is why you can't listen to guys who never played the game and rely only on stats. Guys like Morey will tell you that the worst shot in bball is the mid-range game. But if you play the game, you realize the importance of this shot for the reasons I mentioned in the OP. They think the game is played on a stat sheet. They'll never get it.

Like Jalen said the other day regarding analytics, it's a lot harder to defend a team that can make a shot from anywhere on the court vs. defending a team that only goes for 3s and layups because of said analytics..

Now, almost half of Kawhi's made FGs were 3s (5 out of 11), but what makes him unguardable is the fact that he won't hesitate to fake you out and shoot a wide open mid-range jumper - he's automatic from anywhere on the court.

That's what teams like the Rockets and Bucks are missing - the mid-range shot.

No one from the current era is really better than Jordan when it comes to the mid-range shot, considering that Jordan shot it at such a high volume(seasons of 1000+ attempts) yet his percentage is almost better than anyone's.

Durant's mid range is his most unstoppable shot. Kobe too. If you are great in the mid-range, the defense is always back on it's heels.

It's the ultimate arsenal to rely on when nothing is there. You can just pull up almost anytime. It's just always there. The 3 is way too hit or miss and you just can't get to the rack. The mid-range is always there. Master that shot and you master the highest level of bball.

It would break the league and cause massive depression for his opponents. Not even joking. In this soft snowflake mindset league? Book it.

Wanna watch some mid-range mastery? Check this out. And remember, this is just one form of a mid-range shot. MJ had them all. This is what creating a shot out of nothing means. From the triple threat position. This is what LeBron, Curry and Giannis lacks.
