When Kobe is done I think he will be ranked ahead of Shaq as a Laker.

Let's say hypothetically Kobe wins one more championship and finally earns himself a Finals MVP. He still has a couple decent seasons left, but he only gets the one championship/finals MVP. So, I would assume that the Lakers would retire his number, but which do they choose to retire? 8 that he won 3 championships as second fiddle and scored 81 points in a game, or 24 where he won a championship as the man, an MVP, and a Finals MVP?

Shaq, Magic = current top 2.

Kobe = #3 right now.

And of course, when it's all said and done, everyone knows that Kobe will be the greatest Laker ever. He's already the 7th greatest player to ever play the game.

Kareem > Kobe

Having Wilt over Kobe as a Laker is awful to me. Come on now.

Kobe is the number 6 Laker of all time (number 5 if he wins this year, he will pass Jerry West).

1a-Wilt
1b-Kareem
1c-Magic
(you could put the first three in any order and no one would be wrong)
4-Shaq
5-Jerry West
6-Kobe

I would put kobe over jerry west now, kobe won more championships & the game has evolved, its alot better now then it was back then, much more difficult, they need to update the nba logo to Jordan.. If he wins a championship or two he would be in the 1 spot, no question about it, which I think he will. IMO

Which ever was the latest one. That would be 24.

Shaq would make Kareem look like some playground scrub if the two ever played each other.

Greatest Laker center = obviously Shaq.

Greatest Laker shooting guard = obviously Kobe.

Not even up for debate. It's like saying Drexler was better than Jordan.

I've had a similar conversation about this before, and the discussion led to who would go on the mount rushmore for the Lakers ( 4 guys obv) and the consensus is that Kobe is on it. Wilt was not for obvious reasons.

Old Kareem held his own against Olajuwon. Kareem > Shaq overral and as a lakers.

And please, Kareem was the Lakers main guy in his duo with Magic in their early years.

yeah, I understand the argument for leaving Wilt off of it, but when one of the immortal six (Wilt, Russell, Kareem, Bird, Magic, MJ) wins a chip for your team and leads them to a 33 game win streak, he gots to get his.

another sad reality is without Shaq, Kobe is still ringless.

yes I know people hate this fact, but it is really real.

Worthy was playoff MVP f*cktard, and Kareem had scored more points than ANYONE when he retired.

Stupid Sam Perkins knobslobber right here. Kobe has never been the third best player on a team. Kareem was riding the coattails of Magic and Worthy to titles as a role playing 38 year old who was no better than Yao Ming today. Dumbass kid... go root for your pathetic team.

Jerry West over Kobe Bryant LMAO!!!!!!

indiefan for a person who made a thread AFTER Big Baby hit the GW'er vs Orlando? "How did he go 35 overall???" You and JVG can relate to being prisoners of the moment. This board for the most part are victims to this.
