Default If Pau wins Finals MVP how will that effect Kobe's legacy?

I think that if the Lakers play Cleveland there is a good chance that Pau will be MVP because of how weak their frontline is and since Kobe will have to go against Lebron and D. West.

How will this effect Pau's and Kobe's legacy

It won't. We all know what Kobe is. Even the people that despise Kobe realize they don't win or even get there without him playing like he did, as the MVP throughout the playoffs. Kinda like when Ray Lewis won the superbowl MVP that year, when he didn't do much in the super bowl.

There's no way it'll hurt Kobe's legacy. In spite of what some people may say, Kobe is a versatile player, and if he realizes knows that in order to beat the Cavs he'll have to play the facilitator role and drive the ball inside and hand it off to Pau, he'll do it.

You know how badly Kobe wants to win a championship. He's too good of a player to let his petty selfishness get in the way of winning.

And for what it'll do to Pau's legacy - well, I don't think it'll do much. He's already known as one of the biggest offensive threats in the post, and a finals MVP will just add a notch to his belt.

It would only matter to the kinds of people who hate on Kobe no matter what the outcome.

Don't think it can happen. Pau just doesn't get the ball enough, it would take a string of really bad shooting nights for Kobe (which is possible).

Jazz (no Okur), Rockets (no Yao) and Denver all have frontlines that are just as weak.

Gasol vs. Jazz - 18/9/2
Gasol vs. Rockets - 19/12/3
Gasol vs. Nuggets - 17/12/3

Kobe vs. Jazz - 27/5/6
Kobe vs. Rockets - 27/5/4
Kobe vs. Nuggets - 34/6/6

Kobe beats him in stats and overall impact (closing games, taking/making shots when absolutely necessary etc.). Even if Gasol is close or better statistically (like he was in the Rockets series), Kobe would still get the edge over him.

It will not make a difference really either way. If he wins it will be nice. But the most important rank is championship rings. And to me the Finals MVP really should be a Playoffs MVP. Different players may step up in different rounds and play better depending on match-ups.

didnt mean to make this into a competition between Pau and Kobe's stats. Its definately possible that Pau could even totally outplay D12 imo...if he discovers he has testicles. All im saying imo its about 30/70 possibility it will happen

Pau wouldn't be the MVP of any of the 6 series they have won together. More like 90/10.

Who is going to gaurd Kobe on Cleveland? Their 2 spot is both short and slow... and LeBron isn't covering Kobe all game.

Kobe will have easier matchups than Pau against the Magic or Cavs, in my opinion.

Now, that doesn't mean that Pau isn't capable of winning Finals MVP... but I think Kobe is still the odds on favorite for that award.

If Gasol does win Finals MVP, it will diminish Kobe's legacy a little. Most people will still consider Kobe the leader, and best player on the team though... so he's going to get the most credit regardless of who wins the MVP award.

No he wont. Mark it down. The bigger the stage, the more Kobe wants to take over and be the star and get the credit. That's why his Finals shooting % is so low, and thats why he takes even more ridiculous shots in the playoffs than he does in the regular season.

Kobe will NOT facilitate on the game's biggest stage. He has a hero complex. just wait and see. i will bet the farm on it.

Won't change anything unless you just despise Kobe. He's been the MVP of the playoffs for the Lakers so far. If Pau wins MVP in the finals it means the Lakers steam rolled to the title most likely in a sweep.

His Legacy already is a Top 5-6 SG of All Time and Yes is THE BEST PLAYER in that Laker Team which happens to be the a Top 3 Team in te League Right Now in terms of Deepness and by Far have the BEST STARTING 5 and FRONTLINE...

If Gasol Wins Finals MVP its well deserved He Not Only Is The Most Underrated Star in the NBA (= HE IS AN ALL STAR! WHAT A DISGRACE ON THE VOTING CRAP) HE is THE BEST LOW POST SCORER IN THE NBA SKILL WISE, THE BEST PASSING CF`s in the NBA with TIM DUNCAN , A Great Shot Blocker and Solid Rebounder.

A SUPERSTAR

They Have Oddom: One of the Most Versatile SFs in the Game Capable of Guarding 3 Positions, a GOod Scorer, a Good Rebounder, Great Passer and ofcourse ...GREAT DEFENDER...

Bynum: Top Shot Blocker Minute Played, Top Rebounder Per Minute Played and Good Screr Inside at High FG%

Any Team Will Have a Very Hard Time Scoring or Playing against The Presence of Thesee 3. THEAY ARE REALLY THE BIG 3 OF TODAYS GAME.

Nothigh Wrong with Gasol getting the Finals MVP....He Is Superstar even though many people might not like his style of play because its not athletic, a dunker a leaper..etc..
