Trump doesn't really have an economic policy in the traditional sense - his "tax plan" is a joke and you'd better believe in it he's in on it (which in a way, makes him more reasonable than some of the other candidates who actually take it seriously)

But he does have economic instincts, those of a street hustler. There's a gangster undercurrent to his worldview which is both worrying and almost refreshing.

To the extent that I can imagine a Trump economic policy, it probably looks like this:

He's on record wanting to steal Iraq's oil, and the rest of his foreign policy is similarly about zero sum economics, especially the idea that if America is to be the policeman of the world, allies should pay protection money.

On trade, he'd threaten to back out of NAFTA so Mexico would pay for his wall. I can also imagine him threatening China militarily so that they change their monetary policy.

He'd be counseled by some of his richest friends (like Carl Icahn) and would have them to negotiate on behalf of the United States. They would personally make huge profits from those deals as the average American would suffer.

Another deal you can typically expect from a Trump-like leader is a rise in the minimum wage in exchange for anti-union legislation.

So overall, a kind of kleptocracy draped in gentle paternalism - essentially a milder form of the sort of policies you see in developing countries. It could be surprisingly effective in the short term, but also ruinous in the longer term.
