Default Are you good at arm wrestling? If not, why not? If so, then what are your secrets?

Now on one hand you have a super-developed, super-specialised dude like this:

...but on the other hand you have a kickass, equal-armed dude like this:

    Pro armwrestler vs Pro bodybuilder

    ...

Now as a skinny dude who only works on strength-training for reasons of tennis and table tennis, i'm always amazed how that little bit of strength-conditioning can somehow put down dudes with greater arm size than myself when it comes to arm wrestling.

At this point I think I understand some of the secrets, tho. Like, how you position your hand and wrists is almost as important as your actual forearm and arm strength. I mean, something like that.

I'm still very amateur, tho. Thoughts / disagreements / advice?

I'm right handed... and skinny as f*ck.

but for some reason I've always been a solid arm wrestler with my left hand.

it's all in the wrist for me.

    It's technique and quickness.

I worked with a gal that was about my height , 5'10" , and she never told anyone about here being an amateur arm wrestler, and had won a state title.

So one day I asked her to wrestle me....
Her first comment - I don't want to break your arm.
I just said just test me...

SO she whipped me in about 2 seconds.
We did it over 6 months about 4 more times, and could never figure out how she did it , but she did tell me , quickness is truly the key.
Pull and down technique was the system.

Being beat by a woman , was nothing , but the quickness was amazing.

Technique, and quickness on the go are both very important. But if you don't have the tendon strength, wrist rise, pronation, supination, or cup strength you won't be able to apply it. There's very specific muscles arm wrestlers work that most other sports don't hit. Including body builders who you'd imagine worked towards building every possible muscle. Here's an example of a pros arm

Do some arm wrestling specific lifts, and learn how to top roll you'll be in pretty good shape. There's many other techniques, but top rolling is the safest being a form of "outside" arm wrestling. Inside arm wrestling when you commit your shoulder isn't a good idea if you don't know what you're doing, and haven't taken the time to build up the needed strength.

One of the better guys to listen to. Top puller, former tier one special forces who did like 8 tours in Afghanistan with JTF2.

Surprised me how technical it can be
