Default Mbenga vs Mihm

I guess the 10-day contract is because mihm is 2 weeks from returning.

But in the 5 minutes that Mbenga played, I liked what I saw. Should we Keep Mbenga and find a way to include mihm in a trade? Or should we just let Mbenga's contract run out and have the negative stat Mihm take over?

I say Benga man. Everytime Mihm got minutes in the first couple weeks of the season we screwed up. Guy has lost it.

id like to wait a bit longer than 5 mins in a blowout game before i make an opinion of him. from what i've seen before of him though (dallas days), he could be pretty serviceable here. big body, covers a lot of space, blocks some shots and 6 more fouls to waste (although with him, they come pretty fast)

Sizzle is absolutely correct. Mbenga does not even know the offense and he looked a bit out of shape. He was trying too hard as well. Its too early to tell and quite honestly, given the schedule (Lakers 9:13), its unlikely he would get much playing time.

We just need more time to judge his talent.

I agree to wait...besides I'm annoyed that he plays defense with his arms and not his feet. And why is he always on the ground?

Theres no way we can find out if hes going to be effective with us in 5 min of garbage time. Unless we are able to pick up another big, my guess is we will keep him. Theres a big lack of bigs out there and it looks like webb is not comming. Probably will sign him to 2 10-day contracts and then decide if we pick him up.

The 10 day contract is because they want to buy more time for Mihm and because they are trying to land Webber. Mbenga will only stick around if the Lakers are unable to find a veteran big. You don't need to trade Mihm if you keep Mbenga, besides Mihm has zero trade value you can't get anything for him.

Mbenga looked ok. He was a little lost out there which is to be expected since he doesn't know the Lakers system and players yet. I need to see him play some meaningful minutes before I can evalutate him. Seeing as he's only logged a little over 500 minutes in the NBA we can't expect too much from him. maybe 5-10 from him if he sticks around

What else could a long bodied big man do? they aren't really quick. Not even Bynum is quick with his feet defensively, so what do you do? Use your talent, block shots, get deflections, steals, etc.

He's on the ground hustling for loose balls and taking charges. I liked what he was doing.

Offensively he didn't look that horrible. He just rushed a little bit when he was shooting, almost made a hook shot, it just didn't fall.

I hope we can keep this guy.

Actually, he looked like his body was out of control to me. There is a difference between being out of control and having good foot work. Perhaps he was trying to hard or perhaps he just plays out of control which would mean he's a foul machine. I don't know enough about him to make any judgements.

Lets see how he does if he plays in any of the next few games. He might be needed if the bigs get in foul trouble, but other than that, he will probably ride the pine. I was not that impressed with his garbage time play. He looks awkward out there. Maybe first game jitters. We shall see how the 10 days works out. Mihm should have been sent packing after last year. He is too injury prone to keep taking space on the team that could be used for someone else.
