Very dependent on the industry. In professions that are highly specialized or require specific skills, it's much more expensive to find and train a new employee than it is to retain a good one.

I've got private health insurance here. We get medicare though which covers a lot of basic stuff. The american health system is terrible, really feel bad for you guys.
