yeah it's a nice car, beautiful actually... but it just doesn't grab me...

i'm more function over form... i see a car like that and immediately start trying to figure out how much crap would need to come off it to get the true potential out of it

you don't want to know what i've done to peel nearly 600 pounds off my M5

That's one of the most functional cars on the market.. It's the McLaren SLR

    SLR: " super light racecar"

Mercedes and McLaren teamed up to create it, there is carbon fiber throughout that thing, goes over 200+ MPH...0-60 in 3.3

I know what it is.. btw Super Light Racing not racecar and it's not "super light"

it's still got all sorts of crap on it that's not needed and some that's needed to fix design flaws. The damn thing weighs nearly 4000 pounds. other issues, on a racetrack it's fine but it has torsional rigidity problem that bite when you're trying to corner hard on a less than perfect surface, lots of weird feedback to the steering and rear suspension flexing causing the car to step out..

that's where some of the extra weight came as Murray and crew tired to solve an inherent problem with most monocoque chassis cars by throwing more material in the tub but it just made the car weigh more..

the car has braking issues,.. massive hyper expensive ceramic brakes that are sub par because they used an overly complicated electronic system on it that doesn't work on a performance car.. not murray's fault he wanted to go with a more traditional hydraulic system but Mercedes wanted to show off their latest technology.. btw the braking system not including the calipers and rotors... over 200 pounds

like i said a beautiful car but it just doesn't grab me, i'm more of a function over form guy...

Dude it still has super car performance and is highly highly 'functional'

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=N7fz-ZPWM24

^^^ on Top Gear... It had the best track time of ALL the cars they tested... #1 overall, beating the Lambo. The thing handles like a fcking dream, it is seriously a work of art when it comes to actual driving.

That break system you mentioned? One of the best there is, can stop on a dime, it is shown in the video.

Nurburgring lap times for a few production cars, not just supercars but production cars, the Nurburgring track is a 13 mile track, uphill, downhill, long long straights, huge braking zones and roughly 90 corners to the left and right depending on who's counting.. it's the ultimate test of a car.

here's some numbers' for reference, I'll exclude some of the lesser know cars but these are all cars anyone with enough money can buy and drive on the the road

lets see how the McLaren Mercedes SLR stacks up

    #3 Porsche 918 Spyder 6:57.00
    onboard video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEv_uFBnzwI

Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce 6:59.73

    Chevrolet Corvette Z06 7:22.68
    Maserati MC12 7:24.29

    #21 Ferrari Enzo 7:25.21

you see where this is going?

Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series 7:26.40

    Porsche Carrera GT 7:28.71

Can't tell if you're serious? How embarrassing, only a top-50 Nuremberg time, what a non functional heap of trash...smh

Same time as that slow ass LP640

So what like only the top-10 on that list are capable of "grabbing" you?...Even though they are just seconds faster on a freaking 13 mile track?

Man I wanted one of those cars in High School. My buddy had a '94 (?) Camaro Z28 SS... wrapped it around a telephone pole. Those things were crazy fast.

Not faster, but apparently handles turns better.

In a straight line it would get smoked by the SLR...most of those cars would.
