Default What happened last night against Houston?

We were off to great start and things just went down hill at the start of the second quarter, we were out played & out-hustled, Bell and Hill didn't ever get into the flow, not to mention the "skirmish" with :27 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, resulting in Barnes and Alston being ejected, and techs given to T-Mac, Shaq, Nash.

The only bright spot was Barbosa getting into his 6th man role off the bench but his shooting wasn't all that great 5-13, it gives hope that he's not completely out of sync in Porters system.

It was basically the worst possible game we could've had, short of everyone dying on the court.

Terrible ball movement, our shooters were bricking open shots and then they tried to shoot themselves out of it with little regard for our high-percentage scorers inside. Amare ended up standing around unused on offense because of how little he got the ball - but it wasn't helped by the fact that when he got the ball early a few times, he got doubled immediately and coughed up a turnover.

Porter needs to work out a fall back plan when our jumpshots aren't falling. When things go awry, slow down and dump the ball inside to get some high percentage points and build some confidence. That confidence will spread (hopefully) to our shooters, allowing for better spacing and for everyone to get back in rhythm.

TMac couldn't be stopped with his shooting though, I only remember him driving like once. He killed us with his pull-up 3s, and there's not much we can do about that except contest the shot. But we certainly didn't help ourselves by losing composure.

Shaq pushing people over like an adult beating up kids was the only highlight for me.

Barnes suspended 2 games, Nash out 1, Barbosa going home for at least a week for his mother's funeral (RIP), things aren't looking to bright in the valley of the sun right now.
