Default Why are we not in on OJ Mayo?

I hear all these teams that are in on him. It can't hurt him to give him an opportunity. I know he plays the same position as DeMar, but it's not like DeMar is good enough where we can't give him some comp. Even play small and move Demar to SF and OJ to PG.

If he sucks, no big loss. Memphis doesn't really want anyone, but if they're still interested in a big, I'm fine with trading Amir for him. Amir is good, but we do have a lot of bigs on the team...

Mayo kinda sucks. The only thing you can say he does well is shoot the 3 at a good %. He doesn't get to the line much, he's not much of a playmaker, no impact on defense... he's fairly irrelevant. But I agree, I'd take a shot on him. What is there to lose? But at the same time, I won't lose any sleep over not getting him.

I remember a time when Mayo was the next big prospect out of high school and people were comparing him to Kobe.. how times have changed.

I would take a run at him because he is going fairly cheap. So why not?

Gerald Green was also compared to Kobe and Harold Minor was supposed to be the next MJ.

OJ has a big name but little game.

I certainly wouldn't trade Amir for OJ as he isn't really a good basketball player, as Q said all he does is shoot the 3 at a decent rate.

But if he came cheaply I'd take a flyer.

Amir is replaceable (I like him, but he is a first big off the bench on a good team at best). It's not even like we have to go acquire someone to replace him. We have internal replacement for him.

OJ Mayo has talent. Maybe I remember him from a couple of years ago, but he has one of the best mid range shots in the league. Yes, he hits the 3 at a above average rate, but that's not all.

He needs the ball to be effective, and with this team not having anybody to create off the dribble, OJ Mayo can do that...

I just find that we have an overwhelming blockage at the 3 in which we could possibly unload. Plus there is some more talent in Memphis in which we might want to acquire. Mike Conley and Rudy Gay. Maybe even trade away Bargnani in a deal that involves Gasol. I don't care. I just wanna see something that would put this team in a good position for the next few seasons...
