Much is in place for Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony to be an All-Star starter for the first time.

Anthony finished third in fan voting last season, but the top two finishers no longer are on the ballot at forward in the West. Kevin Garnett has moved from Minnesota to Boston of the East and San Antonio's Tim Duncan is listed for the first time at center.
"It might help," Anthony said. "We shall see how it turns out."

Anthony last season played in his first All-Star Game. His goal is to start the Feb. 17 game in New Orleans.

"Of course," said Anthony, whose Nuggets (7-3) moved into first place in the Northwest Division with a 115-83 win Saturday over New York. "It would be anybody's goal to start."

The other favorite to start is Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki, fourth last year. Utah's Carlos Boozer has the best stats among West forwards but never has done well in voting.

At guard, Denver's Allen Iverson, third last season, figures to have it tougher than Anthony. Last season's top two finishers, the Lakers' Kobe Bryant and Houston's Tracy McGrady, haven't gone anywhere.
