Default Classic Teams: The Dallas Mavericks

1. 2006
Team Summary:
Western Conference Champions. 60-22, 2nd in Southwest division. Lost to Heat in NBA finals 4-2. Up 2-0 and leading late in game three, Dallas fell apart and lost four in a row. They won 67 games the next year and lost in the opening round.
Starting Five: Dirk Nowitzki (PF), Jason Terry (SG), Josh Howard (SF), Devin Harris (SG), Erick Dampier (C) Sixth Man: Jerry Stackhouse

2. 2003
Team Summary:
Midwest Division Champions. 60-22 lost to Spurs in Western Conference finals 4-2. Knocked off Blazers and Kings in playoffs. Had lost in conference semi-finals the two previous seasons. The team that turned around the Mavs fortunes under new owner Mark Cuban.
Starting Five: Dirk Nowitzki (PF), Steve Nash (PG), Michael Finley (SG), Raef LaFrentz (C), Eduardo Najera (F) Sixth Man: Nick Van Exel

3. 1988
Team Summary:
53-29, 2nd in Midwest division. Lost in Western Conference Finals to Lakers 4-3. Imagine how different things would be if the Mavericks win that game 7 and derail the Lakers chances for a repeat. The Mavs won 55 games the year prior and lost in the opening round, the year after they began to fall apart and went into rebuilding.
Starting Five: Mark Aguirre (SF), Derek Harper (PG), Rolando Blackman (G), Sam Perkins (PF), James Donaldson (C) Sixth Man: Roy Tarpley

4. 1995
Team Summary:
36-36 missed playoffs. Now it looks like a bad season, but the Mavs were so bad in the 90’s that this brief little era of run and gun basketball was maybe their finest moment and certainly a fun team to watch. In the four years before they won 28, 22, 11 & 13 games. In the four years after 26, 24, 20 and 19.
Starting Five: Jim Jackson (SG), Jamal Mashburn (SF), Jason Kidd (PG), Popeye Jones (PF), Lorenzo Williams (C) Sixth Man: Roy Tarpley

The 03 Mavs were fun. Loved watching them.

Plus, the last NBA video game I bought was Live 2003, and I still love launching threes with that team. Zhi Zhi Wang is insanely effective

I am no Mavs fan, but coming from Austria (next to Germany) i hear a lot of Dirk. And i still cant believe they lost 4 games in a row against the Heat.
