Default Calderon traded to...?

Looking at the Cavs situation and their need for a PG (gone through, what 10 in the past couple of years?) Calderon would be a perfect fit and improve that team. My read is that Hughes would play the 2 guard position.

Is there anything Rap fans want back from Cleveland? One of the holdouts, Anderson Varejao or Sasha Pavlovic? What about the spanish twins, Calderon and Garbo to the Cavs -- Is there enough talent not named James there to complete a trade?

I don't want Hughes at $12 million! Bad contract. Nor is he an improvement on Ford or Parker! Give up "3 starters" for one potential, no way. Terrible.

I wouldn't do that deal either, but it's not that bad. First, none of the guys in the deal are starters we're giving up. Maybe they started a few games last year, but going forward, they aren't starters. Gibson would be a solid backup PG to TJ and could start when needed. Varejao is the type of big we need. Hussle, D, rebounding. As for Hughes, he makes too much for sure, but so do a ton of NBA players and it doesn't matter if he's not an improvement over Ford or Parker. He certainily is over Kapono. TJ, Hughes, Parker in the backcourt starting, basically 3 'guard' rotation but Parker and Hughes are long enough to handle he 3. Hughes is another slasher, defender...again the type of wing we need. He's still young as well and could play off the ball being fed by TJ. If the price tag wasn't so high it's not a bad deal.

There is nothing I'd want from the Cavs if I were the Raptors. The Cavs management has done a brilliant job of surrounding Lebron with mediocre untradable veteran talent.

And I wouldn't want Larry Hughes on the Raptors if he was playing for whatever the minimum salary is for him.

I would love to get Varajao. He would be the perfect fit.

I agree hughes is risky.

My original trade was

Calderon and Garbo

for

Varejao and Gibson

But i figured Rasho wasn't too big a sacrifice to take a chance on hughes.

Hughes only has one more year on his contract than rasho. To me the centrepiece of this trade is varejao. Gibson is a good backup pg with a chance to improve. Calderon is the best player in the deal, but I really want to see him start somewhere. Preferably with the raps, but that doesn't seem likely.
Personally I'd rather see TJ and someone else (Garbo, or someone with some value) traded for a starting SF who slashes and rebounds and a backup pg.
If that can't happen then I would want the same deal with Jose. There is no point having Tj and jose playing 24 min each when both would excel playing 40, and there is no point of having jose play 12min. The trade that was suggested here was only in response to the post asking for a jose to clevland scenario in a rediculously named thread.

I'd rather see Tj for Lamar Odom, or Corey Maggete or andrei kirilenko or Jose for Rudy Gay or Josh Smith or Josh Howard or Luol Deng (dreaming here), etc.

Yeah that'd be the only player id want besides Lebron obviously. The Cavs would likely want a big man and another player for him.

Likely Rasho and Jose
for
Varajao and a 2nd rnd pick

If we trade Calderon I will first off all be very upset and it would be a huge mistake unless a-we cannot re-sign him b- he demands out. I personally think Colangelo will do anything to keep him. We've just got such a great combo with him and TJ.

I think both situations can happen next year. Both TJ and Calderon can play more than 35 minutes in most of the NBA teams and sooner or later one of the two will ask for these minutes or would demand the trade. I think Jose will be restricted FA next summer, so probably it would be the time to try a sign-and-trade for someone (probably any of the SF someone else posted before). Or maybe the time to find a trade involving TJ, who knows.

I think some of you guys are overrating Varejao massively. I wouldn't give up Jose straight up for him. I think the Raptors are going to wait on Jose anyways. If he has another good year then he could go beyond MLE worth and open up sign and trade possibilities next offseason.

Judging by his recent contractual disagreements. I'd give a big hell no to Varejao. Too much money for no talent.
