The Future is very bright for us

Despite all the god awful decisions that McHale made that crippled this franchise, he did do us some good. McHale made us lose 5 first round picks which ultimately could of been the difference between a championship and what actually happened. What most of us dont realize is that during the end of his tenure he almost made all that up. When he left, we had one of the best centers/power forwards in the league and he got us a plethora of 1st round picks to which Kahn added 1 more himself.We had 4 this year (one was traded for a potential first next year) and have up to 3 next year. Next year we have our own first pick (going to be a lottery), we have Utahs first which is top 17 protected, and we have Charlotte's 1st which is lottery protected. Because of all these 1st round picks we should be able to rebuild relatively quickly assuming our drafts go ok.

After our 2009 draft many people have labeled kahn as McHale 2.0 mainly because he took 2 PGs and one SG in the first round. Flynn is a very talented player and unfortunately plays the same position as Rubio. The whole idea of this IMO is that during every minute of the game we will have an elite ball handler running our offense. Another reason Kahn might have got both these players is that one could bust (most likely to be Rubio) and then the other one might pan out (flynn is the safer pick IMO). finally another reason which i personally dont believe at all is that if we get rubio this year Kahn is going to trade flynn.

Next year is the 2010 draft. Depending on how Wayne ellington adjusts to the NBA i think our biggest needs will be SF and Center. The reason i dont consider SG to be a huge need is because odds are Rubio and Flynn will both be on this team and when both of them are on the floor one of them is going to be playing the SG position. Ultimately though i consider the 2010 draft to be for getting role players for us. I view it like that because if we happen to land a stud C odds are he wont be starting over Big Al or Love during his rookie season. The possibility does exist that we could land a very good SF that could start right away which would force whoever our starter is (gomes or brewer ) to the bench which would be great. Our bench would finally not be so terrible.

All in All over the course of this year and next i believe that due to the sheer number of first round picks we have we could solidify our starters and put together a solid bench very quickly which would at least make us perennial play off contenders a couple seasons from now.

I like Kahn so far. He is a GM who makes moves and that is better than doing nothing like McHale. I think he will just keep on making moves until he has found the right team. Then once we know we have something; we will settle down with the trades/signings.

"Well said," about the SG spot. I think the SG isn't a concern anymore. Those dime a dozen SG will float around the league anyway. We're not looking for a championship at this point of time. We wouldn't want to get "gaurd heavy" like we were before either.

Hopefully we don't have to mess with our SF spot that much next year, but whatever happens, happens. I don't exect Brewer to be MIP this coming season, but hopefully the added muscle and time to think after his injury leads to a more mature persepective for the guy. (needed a shrink) His nerves aren't exactly hard as steel. If he comes out thinking that he has been in the league a few years, rather than "I just came off an injury" then he will be on par.

I'm hoping for a good Center for the draft, but a veteran C could change my mind. We need a lot of help still, but we're growing...sort of. Hm, I'd like to see us do well this year even though I want a high draft pick.

we might have to start calling him Slim Al . seriously though if he really lost 34 pounds from his PLAYING weight he should be just fine in a run and gun offense. Im even more pumped about him this season. Another thing to note is that he knows he is bad at defense and seems like he is trying to improve as best as he can in that department

Yeah, and slimming down should help his defense out a lot. Part of the problem is that he can't get to spots fast enough to stop dribble penetration. I might have to get league pass this year if they don't have enough games on TV. I want to see more teams more often anyway.

I bet Portland can't wait to play us tonight. They have bullied the living sh*t out of us so far with their big men. I hope Al is on his A-game tonight. He needs a 30/15 game for us to win. Flynn needs to not shoot 30% also. Gomes needs a lot more shots. I think we are giving the ball to way too many players that don't need shots. Gomes should get around 10 or more shots per game in my opinion. Gomes/Jefferson/Flynn should be the main focus for us offensively IMO. Brewer can be a cut to the basket and try to stop taking 3's. I hate when I see Brewer take three's and then the dude on TV keeps saying his shot has improved so much. I don't see that as much anymore. DAMN! I forgot that guy's name beside Jim Peterson but he puts things so out of perspective. But I'm glad we at least have one announcer who isn't just trying to call it the Wolves way and that is Peterson. I've seen other team's channels and they have homers...so just be happy that we have a good guy like Peterson giving us the real deal.
