Default Didn't Hawks ownership originally want Jianlian

The Hawks ownership group admitted they wanted Jianlian because they were expanding in China. so i propose a trade...

Incoming Players
Yi Jianlian
7-0 from China
No games yet played in 2006/07
Bobby Simmons
6-6 from DePaul
No games yet played in 2006/07

Outgoing Players
Tyronn Lue
6-0 PG from Nebraska
11.4 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 3.6 apg in 26.5 minutes
Marvin Williams
6-8 SF from North Carolina
13.0 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1.8 apg in 33.8 minutes

The hawks get rid of their log jam at SF-PF. al horford is a star in the making and he will most likely end up starting. acie law is also starter quality and with speedy backing him up they wont need lue. the ownership gets their man, Yi, to expand relations in China.

The Bucks get two serviceable players. Marvin Williams has shown he can put up big numbers at times. and tyronne lue can be a solid backup for mo williams. they also get rid of Bobby Simmons crazy contract.

Congratulations on a successful trade.
Due to Atlanta and Milwaukee being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Atlanta and Milwaukee had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Trade ID #4191499

Any thoughts? bucks fans/hawks fans would you do this trade? if not then who would you like to switch out?

Bobby Simmons is untradeable, the man is coming off of ankle surgery Milwaukee would have to throw in a pick to make that deal work

Milwaukee already has their back-up PG,Lue would be 3rd but they already have Sessions who would've been a first rounder next year

Yi for Lorenzen Wright and a Future first round pick makes the most sense,Milwaukee doesnt need any guards or small fowards

It's quite possible, the Hawks had Marvin Williams appear in Hong Kong as part of this NBA tour, so I won't be surprised if they tried to get Yi.

The Hawks Core:
Johnson
Law
M.Williams
Childress
Smith
S.Williams

Jones,Stoudamire, and Pachulia are trying to earn a spot in that core of players
Their stuck with Claxton but everyone else is able to be traded,Yi would cost them a future protected pick and some expirers

Honestly if what the Bucks where saying before the 2005 draft is true, it might not take the Hawks anything more than Marvin Williams to get Yi.

There was a split in the ownership about drafting Yi. Some wanting him because the ownership group has ties to Chinese businesses; some simply thought Horford was the best player.

Now if the Bucks want to trade Yi, the Hawks could offer either Sheldon Williams, Josh Childress or Marvin Williams straight up and I would love to make that deal.

cant do it straight up because of contracts. since Yi doesnt have a contract yet, the bucks would have to throw in someone else to match contracts.

Its called have Yi sign with the intention of trading him

I would not trade Marv or Josh Childress for Yi

Why Not a 2009 First Round Pick for Yi,Milwaukee doesnt need immediate help at all and they can always draft a guy similar to Yi in the mid first round next year if they really want a versatile SF

Nah you can't do that with draft picks. Yi's rights have no amount assigned to them when traded, and the Bucks have to throw in somebody just to make this work financially. As a 1st round draft pick if he's signed he can't be traded for I think 90 days.

Thanks for clearing that up

but this is a clear lesson to teams that when a player doesnt want to go dont draft him
Corey Brewer,Brandan Wright and countless others would've made sense

I suddenly had this feeling that Joe Johnson will become the Michael Finley of Atlanta. Carries them when they suck, but will be left out once the core group matures and are ready to play.

C - Pachulia / S. Williams
PF - Horford
SF - Smith / M. Williams
SG - Childress
PG - Law

All are very very young
