Re: Done deal: Cavs, Bulls, and Sonics pull off 11-player deal
It's been a crazy trading season, that's for sure. It seems that the Cavs have made out well with these deals. Wally, Wallace and Smith can be very productive. It will be interesting to see how things come together from them.

I agree in the sense of Ben Wallace being the impact player, and to trade him to a division rival no less is unthinkable. He'll flourish beside Big Z.
Anyway, with this trade, does Chicago re-sign Ben Gordon next year now that they'll have Hughes?

Re: Done deal: Cavs, Bulls, and Sonics pull off 11-player deal
I don't see how it helps much at all. What is Wallace the back up center or is he playing power forward with no offensive game whatsoever? Wally is a complete gunner with no concept for team basketball. Maybe if he's just a spot up guy he helps a bit, but then again he's almost as fragile as Hughes. Marginal at best for the Cavs, the only relevant team of the three this year.

I kinda like the new look for the Cavs. I think they have an upgraded bench. Guessing it might look something like this when they are all healthy.
West/Gibson
Gibson/Pavlovic
James/Scerbiak
Smith/Varejao
Z/Wallace
Loosing Gooden is crappy, it moves the offense to jump shooters and James. West can defend well, so loosing Hughes isn't really a problem.
West is defensive minded and a decent point guard. I think they'll be happy with him for 30 minutes there. Gibson can continue to play some point, and hit hit jumpers.
I think Gibson will play the rest of his minutes at 2. Pavlovic is a solid bench player, they need his offense even more now.
James dominates the 3, Scerbiak hits open jump shots a few minutes a game. Wally can also play 2 while guys are healing.
(James, Gibson, Pavlovic, Scerbiak is a ton of offense out of the swingmen)
Smith starts and gives some atheltecism, Varejao is still the bench energy.
Z and Wallace can split the center, 24 minutes each. Z for post presence, Wallace for defense. Plus, Ben might fit in and play like his Piston days with another defense oriented team.

Hopefully playing with Bron will revitalize Wallace. He seems to be playing on fumes lately.

Props to Paxson for landing two above average players for garbage.
Terrible, stupid deal for Cleveland. Hughes was their best perimter defender and in a real offense (not where one player holds the ball for 22 seconds)....he is a solid player. Gooden, IMO, is underrated and never got enough credit for his work down low. He alone is a better player than Ben Wallace. Simmons is a nice pickup for the Bulls as well.
West is an average PG at best while Wally Zcerxcerzsbiatch is a one-trick pony and will be a huge liability on defense.
This is clearly a panic move by the Cavs to please LeBron.

Are you insane? The only valuable asset that the Cavs lost was Drew Gooden and his inconsistency was intolerable.
We get Wallace playing the same role that he did in Detroit (grabbing offensive rebounds and being a help defender). We have a shooting guard that can actually... shoot. We get a natural point guard (something that wasn't on the roster).
Plus, a backup power forward in Joe Smith and a second round pick.
We will have 13 million in expiring contracts next offseason to make even more deals.
I don't see how this is a bad deal for the Cavs under any circumstance.
