Div. I scoring leader Williams to enter draft

Associated Press

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Division I scoring leader Reggie Williams plans to skip his senior season at Virginia Military Institute and enter the NBA draft.

Williams, a 6-foot-5 forward who averaged 28.1 points, said Tuesday he will not hire an agent. He will have until June 18 to withdraw his name if he hopes to return to the Keydets. The NBA draft is June 28 in New York.

"I felt that I had a successful season and I would like to explore my options at the next level," said Williams, adding he intends to return to VMI to get his degree.

Williams set Big South Conference and VMI records for points this season. He had four games of 40 or more points and 15 games of 30 or more points. Williams is third in VMI history with 1,861 points.

Sounds a lot better than he is, VMI plays at an insane pace so stats get vastly inflated, not sure he would even be drafted.

28 pts is 28 pts. he's gotta be impressive if he's dropping 28 every game in college.

He will be a great late first round or early 2nd round pick i hope he will not turn out to be the nexts JJ Reddick after leading the Nation in scoring last year his dumb coach bench him this season.

Yeah, he should have a lot more minutes over some other guys on the team, but I think Brian Hill just doesn't think he needs him that badly.

At the start of the NBA Season i am very high on Coach Hill that he will use JJ Reddick in his rotation. The Boy can shoot from the outside although he is listed at his no shoes height which is 6-4, i think he still have to adjust playing the no. 1 position like a Jeff Hornacek type of player.

Mybe The Timberwolves can sign Williams if he is not drafted in this years NBA ANNUAL Draft. Your Team needs alot of scoring and mybe you can use him as a 6th man of the bench like a Leandro Barbosa type of player.

Orlando is a defensive team though, JJ Reddick doesn't fit into the team. He's got sub-par defense and other then shooting, he's not really that great, still Orlando is terrible with shooting the 3, so he might have worked out good.

Millsap lead the nation in rebounding three years straight, but him going to Louisiana Tech stopped him from being a touted prospect. What happened?

just look at Reddick and Morrisson this year.

scoring a lot of points in college doesn't guarantee a successful transition. even if it's 28 a game.

Morrison is a one dimensional player and Adam is a Rythm Shooter if he will miss the first of his few shoot you would expect a bad game for him and if he would start on fire i guarantee he can have a very great night while Williams is a scorer and not only gamble on his outside shoots.
