According to a poll conducted by NBA.com, 72.1 percent of league general managers believe the San Antonio Spurs made the best offseason moves.
That didn't stop 60.7 percent of the GMs from picking the Los Angeles Lakers to win a second consecutive championship. The Spurs are considered the next best in the West.
Which isn't so bad considering where the 2008-09 left off, with Manu Ginobili out with an ankle injury and his future status uncertain, Tim Duncan's knees ailing and an ugly five-game loss to division rival Dallas in the first round, the earliest exit since 2000 when injury sidelined Duncan.
What a difference a summer makes.
With the blessing of owner Peter Holt, the Spurs' front office, led by general manager R.C. Buford and head coach Gregg Popovich, embarked on a high-priced remodeling job, highlighted by the acquisition of forward Richard Jefferson.
