Agreed 100%.

Meanwhile, cities still have to pay for new or renovated arenas. The NBA could probably fund their own arenas and exist on its own.

But the people that we turn the TV on for (Lebron, Kobe, Wade, etc) are all vastly underpaid considering how much they produce.

That's 461,500 a week.

I would love to get one of his weekly paychecks just once.

I still don't understand why the Wizards wanted him in the first place. They should have left him in Orlando. Otis deserves to pay him.

Huh?? Rashard Lewis is getting paid a lot from the NBA, but he doesn't have anywhere near the endorsements and other shit LeBron, Kobe, or Wade have. LeBron made 50 million in 2010-2011. How is that vastly underpaid.

Lebron made $14.5 million from the Heat/NBA. He probably generated hundreds of millions for them.

The value of the Cavs went down >120M because they lost the privilege of paying him 17M/yr

Gilbert Arenas' contract was almost the same size per year, but goes on for a year or two more than 'Shard's. They wanted to dump salary, so they got rid of Arenas for Rashard who has less money left on his ridiculous deal.

I know how much he made from the Heat, and how much he presumably generated for the NBA. Nonetheless, he is still going to be paid double that yearly due to his endorsements, and other deals that only superstars have.

Barry Zito takes the cake. Giants stil stuck with like 17 million a year for two more years and Zito hasn't had a winning record since joining the team with his once unhittable curve ball which no longer drops and an 85 mph fastball. Dude belongs in the minors but because of his salary Giants will keep him in the bigs though he didn't make the post season roster two years back when Giants won it all.

What he makes from endorsements is separate from the NBA. It's a $4 billion business, with a very small pool of talent. They are going to get paid.

Look, if you want to make it fair, then allow guys like Lebron, Kobe, Wade, Dwight, etc to make $150 million a year, and everyone else makes a couple hundred thousand. In a system like that, Rashard Lewis would never get a big contract.
