Default Why does intolerance get more importance than tolerance?

In terms of adjustment? Why are picky people catered to...it doesn't make sense to me.

If I have class full of kids that want to eat whatever and their is one kid with a peanut allergy. Doesn't it make more sense that the one kid with that allergy should be responsible for himself and not eat peanuts? Why do the rest of the kids in the class have to cater to him and not bring in peanuts? Moreso, if he is hyper sensitive to peanuts doesn't it make sense to have him sit in a different area during lunch?

The more extreme the your starting point is, the further from the center the compromise will be.
