    Wow...

You know what...I think if Filipinos want to compete in a major sport internationally they should make baseball their national sport.

All you need is skill to excel in the sport.

    Eman, Intal shine
    in PBA Rookie Camp

    http://www.malaya.com.ph/aug15/spor6.htm

POTENTIAL top draft picks Samigue Eman and JC Intal were among those who showcased excellent skills during the strength, agility and endurance tests that ushered in the three-day PBA Rookie Camp yesterday at the Moro Lorenzo Sports Center.

Edilgusto Soriano, Alex Angeles, Donald Tadena, Daryl Pepito, Macky Escalano and Dom Javier also impressed scouts and coaches who were present, proving they have what it takes to join the pro bandwagon.

Eman, a prized recruit by Rain or Shine from the University of Mindanao, was measured tallest among all 47 applicants at 6-foot-8 while Ken Bono, a former UAAP MVP, was the heaviest at 104 kilograms. Eman also has the longest wingspan at 86.5 inches.

Soriano, a San Beda product, emerged as the best in bench press and push ups, doing 37 and 75 repetitions in separate tests, while Angeles, another Red Lion, was No. 1 in pull-ups with 23.

In the agility drill, Intal and Tadena of Rizal Technological U shared top honors with 4.72 seconds.

Intal, at 6-foot-3, emerge as the best leaper, doing [B]10

2007 PBA Pre-draft Camp (Day 1): Guards dominate play

In the first day of the rookie camp, a lot of eyes were glued on big men Joe Devance, Samigue Eman and Ken Bono. It was the play of guards Jojo Duncil, Jonas Villanueva, Dom Javier and Ardy Larong, however who made the difference as they led their respective teams to victories.

Ex-UST Tiger Jojo Duncil topscored a game-high 16 points while Villanueva contributed 11 points and 5 assists to lead the Coke-Blue team to a 63-52 win over the Welcoat-Red squad.

Noy Javier had an explosive day, firing away long range bombs en route to scoring 14 points, backed up by 2 boards, 1 dime and 1 steal while Larong had 12 points and 6 rebounds as Sta. Lucia-White team made mincemeat of the Air 21-Yellow

2007 PBA Rookie Draft Complete 1st/2nd Round Team Rankings + Camp Talks!!!

I have a fax copy coming from Chairman Tony Chua(Red Bull) of the PBA office this morning regarding the Complete 1st & 2nd round draft rankings. Here it is:

    First Round:

    1) Welcoat
    2) SMB (from Coke)
    3) SLR
    4) Coke (from Air21 Hatfield,Reavis,Mamaril Trade)
    5) Air21 (from Purefoods Pingris/Billones Trade)
    6) Alaska
    7) Alaska (from Red Bull Rich Alvarez Trade)
    8) Air21 (fom TNT Ritualo Trade)
    9) San Miguel
    10) Coke (from Ginebra Hatfield,Reavis,Mamaril Trade) (Ginebra option either 2007 or 2008)

From what i gathered today, i was in the Rookie Camp, Air21 would like to get the #4 pick from Coke in exchange for Telan.

    Second Round:

    1) Air21 (from Coke Pacana Trade)(this could be shifted back to Coke as part of that agreement by Air21 getting the 4th pick+Telan)
    2) Welcoat
    3) SLR
    4) Air21
5)Red Bull (from PF Camaso Trade) (Purefoods option 2007 or 2008)
    6) Alaska
    7) Red Bull
    8)TNT
    9) Red Bull (from SMB Tugade Trade)
    10) Air21 (from Ginebra Tubid Trade)

Now, the concensus from the coaches & 2 mega agents i talked to earlier in the final day of the Rookie Camp, Samigue Eman is lucky to even make it to the Top 4!
Ryan Reyes is the most sought after player by almost all the teams. There were rumors that the Air21 asst coaches(they coached the White team of Ryan Reyes & JR Quinahan) is trying to hide Ryan Reyes by not fielding him longer as the team is planning to pick him at #4 if they succeed on getting the pick from Coke.

But Air21 will face some competition with SMB team, who is now seriously considering tapping the Fil-Am guard at #2. Other SMB prospects, JC Intal & Joe Devance. Coincidentally, Joe Devance would like to play for SMB. My friend, a host of an AM Radio Basketball show made an Interview with Devance & it will be aired tommorow Aug.17 at DZSR 918 at 10AM.

Welcoat is also seriously considering Joe Devance over Samigue Eman.

At 3rd, SLR, quietly looking at Ken Bono or Samigue Eman.

Then at 4th, if Air21 gets that pick, they will use it to tap Ryan Reyes & a bigman for the 5th pick.

Alaska is also deadset on Doug Kramer & Ryan Reyes.

JR Quinahan also passed the test with flying colors as he was the most consistent of all the Bigmen. Same goes with Yousef Aljamal. But he might drop late in the 1st round to early 2nd round. Reason? His height versus the position he plays.

JC Intal looks awesome, but the teams picking in the 1st half was loaded in the position he plays.

Daryl Pepito made that gutsy winning acrobatic driving layup in the middle with Joe Devance going for the block.

Regarding PBA rumors, all the teams tied to get/buy Ranidel De Ocampo from Air21, bidding went to P15 Million but Air21 said, NO Dice!

SMB wanted Arwind Santos but Air21 also declined.

Coke is looking to acquire Chris Calaguio from SMB since last year.

There's also some kind of Negotiation happening between Ginebra & Air21. Either player trades or Draft pick to be acquired by Ginebra in the 1st round.
