I worked overnights for 8 years. It took me a couple of weeks to adjust but eventually my body got used to it. The trick is to flip your schedule on your days off.

I started working days a year ago and ironically that was a tougher adjustment, but so much easier to keep your life organized. I still find myself going back to a night schedule whenever I have a week off though.

I'm a shift worker, you'll get used to it. Mind you, I have 3 shifts I work, 7am -4pm, 4pm-12:30am and 12:00am-7:30am as well as working 7 til 7 shifts occasionally on weekends. Took me 3-4 months to get into it, but now I'm probably at the point where I can get along fine no matter when I'm working. Sometimes I'll only get 3 hours sleep for a day when I have to change shifts, but it's not that hard to deal with.

If you really want to adjust well the most important thing is to keep your same schedule on your days off of work. Another thing I find to be key to feeling good on overnights and sleeping well in the day is exercise.

If you're healthy and somewhat young you should be able to at least partially adjust within the first week and should totally adjust (if you keep the same schedule every day) within 3-5 weeks.

It's really not so bad, I work overnights now and I have a 9 week old baby that I take care of during the day while my wife's at work so 3 days out of my week I only get 3 hours of sleep.

It hasn't been bad. Only thing is I can't sleep many hours straight during the day. Its like 5 hours then awake for 2 hours then another nap. In class right now runnin on five hour energy.

Im a cashier at Walmart 10-7. I usually try to go to sleep around 2 pm and wake up around 8 pm. My job isnt really taxing physically, but I stand on my feet for 8 hours and talk to old women at 4 am. They are literally no girls my age(just turned 20) shopping at walmart late at night.

I work out for half an hour and try to shower before i go to sleep. I try not to a big meal at lunch during work. Because I know my body is accustomed to eating at a day time schedule. You will get accustomed pretty fast just make sure to retain your eating amounts.Alot of my coworkers are fat because of the night shift.

This sounds like a decent tradeoff.

I worked nights the past two summers 11-9 or 11-11 and getting used to it's not bad it's going back into a normal routine and sitting there wide awake ready to climb Mt. Everest at 6 am.

I worked two jobs. One was from 4:30PM to 2:30AM and theo ther was 11PM to 6:30AM.

There's a time you adjust, then after adjusting it just start wearing you down. I eventually felt horrible with that type of work schedule.
