"Basketball reasons" has to be one of the biggest bullshit quotes in the history of mankind. Just shameless bullshitting by Stern. He was pretty much saying "I'm just making shit up as I go".

He just acts like a complete dickface and doesn't even try to hide it. "Substantial sanctions" is just the latest chapter in David Stern's book of bullshit. $250,000 fine for what exactly? Interfering with his TV ratings? That's pretty much he meant when he said it wasn't "in the best interest of the NBA".

You do realize that Stern basically made the NBA relevant, right?

He's been awful the last decade or so, but he was a good commish in the beginning and pretty much made the NBA relevant.
