Default Ankle Weights?

Would ankle weights help increase vert if I did some sort of training with them. I got a pair of 5 lbs. What should I do with these.

Thanks....

tie them around your belly.

Do not use on the ankles, better off with a weight vest.

Ankle weights are really tricky. I think it's too suspicious to use them, not too safe. Better to have a weight vest like he said.

It can stretch out the tendons and ligaments in your legs so I wouldnt use them.

they make your knees weaker as well..

dont get me wrong, i got fast and very quick using em, but i cant jump for shlt..

so imagine youd be like nash, fast and quick, but cant jump..

id rather be someone like chris paul or baron davis/wade who can do it all...

I equate jumpsoles as the same equipment as strength shoes...

Better off just doing some sort of plyo with regular training shoes IMO.

That applys to strength shoes and you have already showed me that.

I have this on my website but I'll put it here as well. I had this amazing experience with ankle weights. I really really wanted to increase my vertical leap (even though it was above average) and I was open to all kinds of crazy ideas. I did so many things to list here but one of them, obviously was ankle weights.

So what I put them on and did 20 explosions/explosive jumps (jump as high as you can by bringing your knees to your chest). And then I'd rest for 2 minutes and do another set of 20 reps. And when I took them off I could jump probably 4/5 inches higher. I know it sounds crazy, so go ahead and try it. But as you know, there is a high probability that you can get water on your knee. I didn't, fortunately, because I was doing for couple of days without consulting my doctor. I didn't know that I could get water on my knee so I consulted no one. But you definitely should. And here is the bad news.

That increased vert is only temporarily. Of course. There's always a catch right. The things is you have to keep doing those jumps for weeks or maybe months and you'll surely see improvement. Not just in how higher you can jump but you'll notice that you can jump easier than before. On my website I have a lot of info about jumping higher. It's all free so you can check that out if you want. It's at http://www.best-basketball-tips.com

Hope that helps,

Trajko

Yeah there shouldn't be a proble with ankle weights unless you exercise badly using them. All ankle weights do is add resistance to all the movements you make with your feet!
