Default Iguodala Resigns 6 years/80 mil

****in big ass deal

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3532139

Quote:
The Philadelphia 76ers and restricted free agent Andre Iguodala have agreed to a six-year, $80 million contract, league sources told ESPN.com.

The athletic and exciting 6-foot-6 forward/guard has improved his scoring average in each of his first four seasons, and promises to be a mainstay on a Sixers team that recently signed former Clippers big man Elton Brand to an estimated $82 million free-agent contract.

That's franchise player money. As I've been saying, he better step up his game and show he's worth it.

WOW!!! That's a lot of money. Well, he is admitting by signing this contract that he is a franchise player. He's improved every year and with his 19 ppg avg. there is still room to become a better scorer. The next order of business is to sign a big man, and then I am curious to see what if anything happens this offseason with Andre Miller.

if he averages 22 6 and 5 over the next 5 or so years then im fine with that money, plus his defense on top of that. Just shoot about 80% at the line, 35 from 3 and near 50 from the field and we're good

I think it goes beyond a set of numbers you expect to put up. With that kind of money he has to prove to be a legit scorer, a lot of guys put up numbers, but they don't have the impact of other players who may put up similar numbers. I want to see a guy that looks like a legit contender combo to go with Brand and not the guy that shrinks into a third option passive player at times. I didn't want to lose Dre, but that's more money than I was hoping. Hopefully his game can develop further.

E-MAIL IS a wonderful thing. Responses to questions can be ever so brief, so concise.
The question to 76ers president/general manager Eddie Stefanski was: Could he confirm the ESPN.com report that guard/forward Andre Iguodala, a restricted free agent, had agreed to the terms of a 6-year, $80 million contract.

"Nothing to report from our side,'' Stefanski replied.

That was it. All of it.

Later, in Los Angeles on vacation, he was interviewed by Tom McCarthy, of the Phillies' broadcast team, during the Phils-Dodgers game.

When asked about Iguodala, he said, "Right now we're still negotiating. I hope it comes to fruition, but there's no deal yet.''

Quote:
Yesterday's ESPN.com report said details of a new deal with Iguodala had not been finalized or signed.

Also, Comcast SportsNet reported that a deal in principle has been agreed to but wouldn't be finished last night, and that terms were not available.

GOBB says he heard from an espn message board that Iggy will receive a 6 year/73 mil deal with a chance for it to be 80 mil with his play, similar to what Deng got. But that's also a rumor.

Now, it's a done deal.

A league source has confirmed that Andre Iguodala and the 76ers agreed today in principle to a six-year deal worth $80 million.

In addition to the base salary, Iguodala, 24, could earn up to $5 million more in bonuses, and the sixth year of the contract is a player option.

OK, so 6 years 80 mill it is, as initially reported.

Meh, whatever.

The 76ers overpaid, but Iggy and Brand will help the 76ers win a title this year or next year. I hope some of those Iggy airballs go away :)
