Default CHINESE man on the Verge of Setting a New World Record

Chess grandmaster Ding Liren has gone 76 professional chess games unbeaten. The current record is held by the sacrifice aficianado Mikhail Tal at 95 games. Will Ding, currently ranked #4 in the world, break it?

We are all witnesses

If he's won so many games in a row why is he ranked only 4th?

Looks like they have an American, Norwegian and a Russian ranked ahead of him.

It's not a win streak, it's an unbeaten streak. He's won around 20 games during his unbeaten run.

Chess competition is at an all time high. They train with the most advanced engines that are accessible to the general public, so the average player at all levels is naturally better than the previous ones. Magnus Carlsen is an entire level ahead of #2 ranked Caruana on all facets of the game.
