Mark Sanchez 1st year starting:
63 QBR, 53.8% completion, 2,444 yards, 12tds-20ints

Tim Tebow 1st year starting:
72.9 QBR, 46.5% completion, 1,729 yards, 12tds-6ints

Stats are comparable and Sanchez isn't a very good QB at this point. He can't handle the NY media and he lets the pressure get to him. Tebow is just as good as a game manager Sanchez is. It's going to be a make or break situation for Sanchez. He's either going to get a fire lit under his ass and become a good QB or he's going to fail miserably.
Tebow was babied far more than Sanchez. Sanchez was put into a fairly normal QB situation for a rookie Tebow had an entire team's structure and gameplan set up to hide his deficiencies. It's not the same.

Sanchez wasn't babied?? His whole role was not to **** up his 1st and 2nd seasons and he barely managed not to do that. They never put him in a position to even attempt to try to win a game. They won their games with a great defense and good running game. All of their passing plays were short-mid passing plays. This past season Schottenhiemer got criticized for calling short and basic passing plays(slants).

Tebow was in a different situation as the Broncos were in crisis mode when they put him in. The pro-style offense under Orton failed them and they put in a offense that gave them the best chance to win and they did have success with that offense. And jury is still out there if he can succeed in a pro-style offense(not saying he can)

Sanchez is the better passing QB but he's such a mediocre QB. He doesn't have the live arm, doesn't have that pro-typical size, lack of confidence, tries to aim his throws, hesitant in the pocket, etc.

Tebow was babied like no QB i have ever seen. Take everything you said about Sanchez. Not only did Tebow get that, the defense was told to sell out to try to get him shorter fields. The offense would give up on third down to avoid making him try to make a difficult throw.

I don't think Sanchez is the god of QB's but he did all Tebow did, with less of a focus on him, and he did not melt down in the playoffs like Tebow did. Tebow's performance against NE was embarrasing.

You're right, Sanchez is a mediocre QB. Tebow is a QB that can only function if the team is built in a way to accentuate his strengths and guess what. The Jets are not.

This is going to be freaking hilarious.

You know what's beautiful? The fat **** Rex Ryan and Mike Tannebaum who thinks he's Rex's running buddy, this mess they made (a QB controversy between two guys who will win 8 games between them if they are lucky) is going to get them fired. Write it down.

Quote:
Tim Tebow’s love of New York has nothing to do with pastrami and rye, or Times Square, or even Madison Ave.: The real reason Tebow loves New York is because he feels he can beat out Mark Sanchez and become the Jets’ starting quarterback.

A major factor in Tebow’s push to come to New York over Jacksonville, his hometown, is that he sees a clear path to resuming his career as a starter, sources tell the Daily News.

The Jets will start Tebow off in a limited role as the Wildcat quarterback — GM Mike Tannenbaum must have said 20 times the other night that Sanchez is the starter and Tebow is the backup — but what other backup flies cross-country on a private jet, as Tebow did Thursday from Van Nuys, Calif., to Morristown, N.J., only to disembark to an adoring crowd of Tebow-ing fans? (The plane’s tail number? N15QB.)

What other backup quarterback arrives with the guarantee that he will get on the field?

If Sanchez and Tebow play like they did last year, the Jets could have a new starting quarterback by Halloween. This is a crucial year for Rex Ryan. If Sanchez doesn’t respond to the pressure Tebow puts on him, Ryan will go into self-preservation mode and could demote Sanchez to save himself.

Tebow is too competitive to settle for serving as Sanchez’s caddie. He led the Broncos to the playoffs last season and won a playoff game while Sanchez regressed. No matter how the Jets spin it, this is a vote of no confidence in Sanchez, who many now believe is vulnerable to losing his starting job.

The Jets ran more plays out of the wildcat formation the last two seasons than any other team in the league. They've basically replaced and upgraded Brad Smith.
