An NBA source said the disappointing Heat have been heating up their efforts to move four-time All-Star forward Shawn Marion, who is making $17.8 million in the final year of his contract.
Does this have any effect on their chance at signing Carlos Boozer in the offseason? Also, what should they look for via trade? I'd like to see them acquire a good post player that can defend and score; perhaps Chris Kaman via three-way trade?
Yeah, Kaman would be a nice addition to the Heat. He'd strengthen their frontcourt and no more mismatches for Haslem. I'm guessing Haslem would play the 4 while Beasley would move to the 3. Though, Beasley at the 3 scares me. Beasley isn't quick enough to guard most of the 3's.

He's not big enough to guard most 4's though, right? I might be wrong, but if he would bring some more effort and intensity to the defensive side of the ball, he could become a somewhat solid defender, and he could use physicality to his advantage with his size.
I would actually like a Kaman deal for both teams. The Heat would gain a cheap low post player that give them the size they need. On the other side the Clipps would get a proven sf, while at the same time clearing up the Center log jamm. The issue would be that the Clippers would lose Marion at seasons end and would have to include somthing extra to match up for salaries...
But the rosters would look better with a trade...
HEAT:
PG - Mario Chalmers
SG - Dwyane Wade
SF - Michael Beasley
PF - Udonis Haslem
C - Chris Kaman
CLIPPERS:
PG - Baron Davis
SG - Eric Gordon
SF - Shawn Marion (with Al Thornton becoming a key reserve)
PF - Zach Randolph
C - Marcus Camby
After playing with the trade machine... we could really do it.
Shawn Marion (17.8M) + Joel Anthony (Minimum) for Chris Kaman (9.5M), Jason Hart (2.4M), and Ricky Davis (2.3M) would work financially since it fits within the 125% rule.
But we couldn't do it until after Dec. 15th, and we'd have to waive someone first since we already have 15 players.
But I have full confidence in Pat Riley and his decision making. He's only going to make the 'right move'. He's not going to give up the team's potential future by trading for a questionable talent.

I wouldn't consider him undersized. He's 6"8, 240 lbs. (correct me if I'm wrong) He has the size but he lacks quickness, but obviously if he puts some effort in, he'll be a solid defender.
At first I wanted them to mold Beasley as a SF so they could bring in a star PF, ala Carlos Boozer. But I've realized Beasley's just not cut out to be a SF. He's not quick enough, and it would just result in more foul trouble. If anything, I want him to put on more size, not slim down to play SF.
Although his perimiter shooting is solid, its not "good". With any type of star center, and especially with Wade, we need a strong 3 point shooter on the perimiter. That's where James Jones comes in. That's why they signed him to such a long contract, to fill that role. His defense and rebounding is okay enough to somewhat stay with most SFs in the league, and he can spread the floor on offense.
I'm sure the Heat won't make a trade until he's back from injury.

Disappointing Heat? What?
From last in the league, to 5th in the eastern playoffs is not disappointing.
& why do we need Boozer when we already have 2 PFs, in Haslem, & Beasley?
& Kaman is not a good defender, + we want cap in 2010.
