Scott Padgett
Free agent Scott Padgett, who played last year with the New Jersey Nets, tells FOX 26 Sports that he has agreed to a one-year non-guaranteed contract with the Houston Rockets, and he will sign the contract tomorrow.
Padgett played for the rockets for two years in the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 seasons.
“I have agreed to a one year non guaranteed contract. It’s a tough situation -- I know that. But, I think there’re some things I can bring to the table that can help the rockets. I know the system. I know the coach very well. I am coming in great shape. And I am going to try to win a spot on the team.”
Padgett was selected in the 28th pick in the first round by the Utah Jazz in the 1999 NBA Draft out of the University of Kentucky. The 6'9", 240lb small forward played with the Jazz for four seasons before signing with the Rockets in 2003, where he had mainly been utilized as a backup. In 2005, Padgett signed with the New Jersey Nets. On June 30, 2006, he was waived by the New Jersey Nets.
He recorded a career-high 22 points and six 3-point field goals vs. Sacramento in January 2005.

Scott was a nice piece of the 03-04' and 04'-05' teams and I definitely expect him to stick through training camp, as a personal favorite of Van Gundy. The interesting thing is that I believe this brings Houston's roster to a whopping 19 players, with about 6 guys that
could get the axe. This could also be a sign that Bob Sura is done, although I still hope that's not the case.
One thing is for sure. We're stocking up on some damn shooters this year. Scott shot .431 and .397 from long range the two seasons he spent here. I'll take that alllll day long.
