Default 1988 Dream Team or 1992 Dream Team

I know NBA players in 1988 didnt play in the olympics but if there was a NBA roster in 1988 in the olympics would they beat the 1992 Dream Team??

    Larry Bird
    Michael Jordan
    Charles Barkley
    Isiah Thomas
    Kevin McHale
    Dominique Wilkins
    Moses Malone
    Clyde Drexler
    John Stockton
    Karl Malone
    Patrick Ewing

    1992 Dream Team
    Charles Barkley
    Larry Bird
    Clyde Drexler
    Patrick Ewing
    Magic Johnson
    Michael Jordan
    Christian Laettner
    Karl Malone

Interesting. I'm going to go '92. Jordan wasn't accustomed to playing as a team in '88 and I think thats a big difference. I think similarly, '88 and '92 overlapping players, with most of those overlapping players developing into true winners in the early 90s. I think the big men improved too with Ewing improving, but more importantly, David Robinson was a beast in 92. I like 92 Robinson over Moses Malone.

'88 in a landslide. Peak Magic and Bird, as opposed to their Summer of '92 forms, put them over the top.

1988 would win. Magic and Bird are in their prime and Jordan is at his athletic prime.

Man, I still can't believe one team had Magic, Bird, and Jordan -- 3 of the top 5 greatest players ever.. on the same team.. crazy!

To bad Hakeem wasn't a U.S. citizen in '88 and 1992 or he would of easily made the Dream Team. (And the '88 dream team) :)

? Jordan played 3 years at UNC. Jordan had always been able to play with a team. We're not talking about Kobe here.

True. But he hadn't played on a good team for 4 years at that point. I think David Robinson is the big difference maker.

    '88 Magic >>>> '92 Magic
    '88 Bird >>>>>> '92 Bird
    '88 Jordan < '92 Jordan
    '88 Drexler = '92 Drexler
    '88 Ewing << '92 Ewing
    '88 Barkley > '92 Barkley
    '88 Karl Malone < '92 Karl Malone
    '88 Thomas >> '92 Stockton
    '88 Moses Malone << '92 David Robinson
    '88 Wilkins > '92 Pippen
    '88 Worthy = '92 Mullin
'88 McHale >>>>>>> '92 Laettner (not fair, should take a college player which probably would have been Danny Manny) so ...
    '88 Manny >> '92 Laettner

1988. 1988 vs 1992 Larry Bird would make the biggest difference. 1988 Magic also has the upper hand compared to his 1992 self.
BTW, the 1992 team could have been even more imposing than they were if they had prefered college Shaq instead or Laettner.

MJ did win a national championship at UNC.

I think the difference makers are Magic and Bird. Magic was better in in '88 than in '92 and Bird was wayyyyyyyyyyy better in '88 as well.
