Default which hypothetical political agenda would be more popular in america?

    Hypothetical question:

Which hypothetical political party do you think would have more appeal in current day america. (not which you think is better, which you think would be more popular)

    A) Economically Socialist and Socially conservative

-Eg this party would support single payer health care, subsidized housing, high taxes on the wealthy, almost none on the poor (very progressive application of tax brackets), high government spending and interference in the economy.

This party would also promote traditional marriage, female chastity, be anti gay, restrict abortion, pro gun, hard on crime, somewhat nationalistic.

    B) Laissez Faire economy and socially liberal (liberal in the modern american context)

    - minimal regulations and government interference. Minimal taxes, (perhaps even not relying on income taxation)
-Very few if any welfare programs

    - Pro gay marriage, pro access to abortion, pro female equality, lots of government activism in terms of social engineering (non-economic), anti gun, multicultural society

B for sure. I don't see a lot of lobbying groups supporting A due to the economics.

Also, it would be much easier to stomach from a populist perspective imo.

Remember I am asking which you think will be more popular, not which you think would be better

Question doesnt make sense because people dont rate these things as a package.

People might want less government intrusion into the economy but more social regulation, and if they get one and not the other, they'll focus on the one they dont have and vice versa.

There are always going to be factions that arent happy with particular aspects of policy no matter what they are, and every aspect will have detractors. And not everyone is in lockstep on what they prefer and what they dont.

Theres no all-inclusive package that will suddenly quell public displeasure.

But in general, "its the economy, stupid"

The stronger the economy, the less social strictness. However, sometimes these factors have a pendulum effect. When people are makin money, theyre not paying attention to their neighbors having out of wedlock kids and abusing govt programs etc because at the time, its all good for the guy who got promoted and has a white pitcket fence. But as more kids grow up with poor family guidance, it affects the economy.

The problem is liberals just cant accept inequality. They think every job should pay the same. AND they think people should never have to live with the consequences of their own decisions. They take a strong but imperfect American system (there is no perfect system, of course) and they break it apart bc they think they can put it back together again as a utopia. They keep chasing an ideal. Like the eternal carrot. They cant handle the idea of economic disparity.

People who work a lot tend to be conservative. Whether they work a lot for low income, or they work a lot for high income. They tend to appreciate keeping what you earn. Professors on tenure, 20-somethings living at home with mom and dad, unionized workers with easy schedules... They tend to to be more into telling others how their income needs to be redistributed. When youre busy all the time, you dont have time to do a lot of posturing, and crying to look cool and sensitive. When you do have a lot of time and no want of resources , you question everything and worry and your imagination runs away. Thats why the developed world has higher suicide rates. Liberals basically just have too much time on their hands and dont know what to do with it. They need hobbies. They need goals. They need self confidence. They just sit at the computer and cry "no fair, no fair!!!" all day and its not healthy.
