    Default Interesting Olynyk Tidbit

The entire podcast was fascinating for me, but I wanted to share this with Boston fans. Skip ahead to 9:07. You might change your tune about Olynyk, you might not care, you might hate the pick even more. But it's worth a listen/watch: http://weareutahjazz.com/lockedonjaz...ure-brillance/

The Jazz put Kelly Olynyk through a workout... The guards do something called "The Jazz 100": It's a hundred three-point shots in a short period of time, taking ten from ten different spots in ten different manners on the floor, so some can be coming off a pick and roll, some can be spot-ups where it's kick out to you... For the big guys, they have them do a drill where they take [18-footers]... However, with Kelly Olynyk, the Jazz... had him take threes... [Olynyk told me] no other team had him take more than five threes by the time he had come to Salt Lake City. His next spot, by the way, leaving Salt Lake was to go to Boston... In the workout for the Jazz, Olynyk hits, I think it was, 63 of 100 threes which was like the second-most amount of threes that anyone hit.

You think people on ISH have the attention span to listen toc podcast? Just type the important parts of the podcast and post the source (nobody will check the source, it'll just make you look legit).

Thanks for this link. I listened to his story. Good stuff.

I liked Olynyk but didn't think he'd be available at 16 for the Celtics. I loved Danny's move to get him.

Does Danny think he's got a Dirk on his hands here or something?

I hope not. I don't mind a good shooting touch, but this guy needs to rebound and defend the paint.

He can defend the paint from a positional standpoint and rebounds just fine, but I wouldn't expect him to grab a bunch of offensive boards. He's a stretch big who is legitimately 7-feet tall. Boston wasn't trying to hit a homerun but a double, and it remains to be seen if the outfield can run it down.

Ainge kept talking about him being a role player/complimentary player and 'not a star'. So they won't force anything through him.

I think it's a solid move. Gives them size and a decent jumpshooting big to go next to Sully/Bass.

I don't mind a big man with a good shooting stroke to spread the floor. His defense will improve, and would be a great player if paired with a great defensive big, just like Dirk's case in DAL.

He's really fun to watch and one of favorite players in this draft. He can make 3s but he's most effective in the high post where he can make reads and decide whether to facilitate or score. He has excellent instincts and feel for the game in that position and almost always makes the right decision. While he's not an explosive or above the rim athlete, he has great coordination and agility along with good hands which allows him to find angles and score efficiently.

He's a very unique player but I get the feeling that people think he's a 3 point specialist which he's decidedly not.

Good post. He is a very, very good passer as well. He's a great glue guy.

    Won't ever be a good defender, He's 7'0 with a 6'10 wingspan

He's not going to get blocks, certainly, but you still have to shoot over him. This is ignorant.
