Just watched Cocoon for the first time. Man was my expectations way off. I figured it would be closer in atmosphere to Invasion of the Body Snatchers, so I was disappointed by the happy go lucky atmosphere. Still solid though.
Pretty good/entertaining movie. California, cocaine, sex, etc lol. A little overdramatic and over the top but, hey, it is an 80's movie. I think I'll have to check out the novel because it will gie a better development of the characters and plot.
I know quite a few people (probably the majority) are saying they liked this movie but it was kind meh to me. Very slow moving and the ending was pretty weak. Did i expect an action movie? No, but I thought there was going to more of a reflection & flashbacks when he was trapped.
I just saw Just Go With It (Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, Brooklyn Decker.)
Storyline/Plot: 8/10 (premise is somewhat original, but it didn't play out too well)
Casting/Acting: 7.5/10 (Brooklyn should just wear a bikini and never speak on camera)
Overall: 6/10 (was a little cheesy and predictable)
I liked the decision Adam Sandler ends up making and the fact that the drop-dead gorgeous model ended up getting dumped in the end... other than that,
A mockumentary about a group of students who document a government-sponsored hunter's efforts in keeping the local troll population in check. Yes, believe it or not, that's what this movie is actually about. And it's a pretty good movie, which takes place in a fairly realistic and believable context.
The trolls are presented as stupid, wild animals, rather than some sort of monstrous creatures bent on killing as many people as possible or something. The effects are pretty good, though, when you see trolls most of the time it's either really dark or via night vision.
If it wasn't already obvious, this was filmed in the same manner as movies like Cloverfield and Quarantine. So if that style isn't your thing, might wanna consider passing on this one. Though, there's far less shaky cam than in those two. Also, this isn't scary. There are a couple scenes that might be for some people, but not for me. Maybe it's just because the trolls are so damn comical looking.
I actually wrote a short story a few years back about two teams of Bigfoot hunters, who in using stuff to lure a bigfoot, actually lure each other until one of them shoots one of the others. For some reason this made me think of that.
This actually sounds pretty interesting for what I'd guess is a borderline B-movie, like one of the ones the Sci Fi channell would release.
