Re: BREAKING NEWS: Jerry Sloan to resign!!!
Sources say Sloan had lost team. One described situation as Deron Williams only staying if Sloan stepped down.

I am a Bulls fan, but uh, I really don't want this to be true. Sloan is a different breed, his longevity, work-ethic, and sound Basketball principals will be sorely missed by this fan of the game.
Don Nelson, probably Phil Jackson after this year, can't see Larry Brown getting another shot, now Sloan.
It's a new era.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Jerry Sloan to resign!!!
****, we were talking about him possibly quitting in the Jazz VS Bulls thread, but figured it'd all likely be bullshit.
Ty Corbin appears to be have named the interim head coach which is good. Hopefully they offer him the gig permenately cause he'll get a job elsewhere if they don't. As for the extension, reportedly Sloan signed it over a month ago, but it was only announced recently, but it was still never a guarantee he'd return next year.
Also looks like this may be only the beginning of changes. So I'd look for someone like AK to be traded also.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Jerry Sloan to resign!!!
Jazz guard Deron Williams has said several times this season players had trouble running the offense/knowing the plays.

Between an owner that apparently won't spend money, losing a coaching legend, and the best PG in the league bolting in 2 years probably, the Jazz may've just entered a very long era of irrelevance.
they will regret this more than byron scott regrets taking the cavs job
well maybe not THAT much
but i do think this leaves the door open for dwill to leave
its a great excuse to use

It's apparently the exact opposite. DWill wanted Sloan out or he was gone.

They've still got Ty Corb, he'll be fine. Time to get Matt Harpring off the broadcast desk and into one of the vacant assistant coaching roles next.
So if word gets out Deron was the cause of Sloan leaving how badly is he going to get boo'd at the next home game?

Re: BREAKING NEWS: Jerry Sloan to resign!!!
Great show of appreciation from ownership for a legendary coach: focusing on the wants and requests of a PG unproven on the big stage and ignoring the input of the people who put you in a position of relevance in the first place.
It's going to be ridiculous if Williams splits anyways after forcing the hand of the front office and in any way contributing to the departure of Sloan.

With Sloans track record, I don't see how management wouldn't side with him.
