Nets seek guard
The loss of Marcus Williams with a broken bone in his right foot could lead the Nets to veteran point guard Darrell Armstrong.
According to reports, the Pacers will waive Armstrong today. If so, the Nets could be the first team to call Armstrong's agent. The Mavericks also are expected to inquire about Armstrong.
The Nets have been monitoring Armstrong's situation this off-season as it was expected Indiana would cut him. The Nets were in the market for a third point guard for insurance reasons and now need one. Williams will undergo surgery today and could be out until December.
Eddie Gill and Mateen Cleaves were invited to training camp, which begins with media day today, but the Nets would like a more proven backup for Jason Kidd. Armstrong, a 13-year veteran, averaged 5.6 points and 2.4 assists off the bench for Indiana last season.
