    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-27073911

Nobel prize-winning Colombian author Gabriel Garcia Marquez has died in Mexico aged 87, his family says.

Garcia Marquez was considered one of the greatest Spanish-language authors, best known for his masterpiece of magic realism, One Hundred Years of Solitude.

The 1967 novel sold more than 30m copies and he was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982.

Garcia Marquez had been ill and had made few public appearances recently.

"Gabriel Garcia Marquez has died," a spokeswoman for the family, Fernanda Familiar, said on Twitter.

"[His wife] Mercedes and her sons, Rodrigo and Gonzalo, have authorised me to provide the information. Such deep sadness," she added.
Damn, my favorite author of all time.

Surprisingly, despite having read 100 years of Solitude thrice, I didn't read any of his other work until a couple of years ago. I read Chronicles of a Death Foretold and started reading Love in the Time of Cholera but got too busy. Gonna go back and start reading it again tonight hopefully if I can find it.

I read 2 of his books.

Love in the Time of Cholera
    and
    The Autumn of the Patriarch

I really enjoyed those books. It's sad that he died, but everyone has to die at some point sadly. He was alive for 87 years. RIP

Im gonna miss his moustache and eyebrows

Why is everyone pointing out that he was super old? Do we not mourn old people anymore?
