Re: Americans...
Americans are not familiar with professional soccer, its not a sport that Americans love the most so of course you get such people who make mistakes like that. How about a British journalist reporting NFL or MLB? Chances are he/she isnt doing much better.

When British Journos try to write about NFL or NBA in their newspapers they sound just as stupid if not stupider, breh.

breh, look at this british account of the usa-team gb basketball game before the olympics

"It was not for wont of trying. Luol Deng prowled with real force, scoring ten. Most came from penalty shots.
Hard as they tried, athletically as they defended, GB's problem was their attacks were straight lined and predictable, easily broken by US interceptions. Andrew Lawrence attempted to inject a bit of devilry in his runs, and Pops Mensah Bonsuh produced a couple of crowd-pleasing slam-dunks. But mainly the tactical approach seemed to be, give it to Deng and see what happens. Which, as the Americans eased into the ascendant, was not a lot.
In contrast to the hosts, the USA moved at gasp-inducing pace, spinning the ball across court, switching the direction of their attacks with bewildering speed. James, with his albatross wingspan, had an underarm reverse pass that left his white-shirted opponents flat footed time and again. Plus, the Americans were not afraid of a long pass out of defence. One to Russell Westbrook from Anthony was conducted with such eye-melting dispatch, the GB team barely had time to work out they had lost the ball.
Once they were close to the net, moreover, the Americans seemed to defy gravity: smooth, easy passing movements were time and again finished off with a flourish. Indeed during the final quarter, with the Americans closing in on a 40 point lead, the game descended into an exhibition."

not really, it's verbose and describes basketball as if football tactics were being employed
