Default Sean Williams was a better risk than Zach Randolph

According to Mike Lupica of the NY Daily News

Quote:
The Nets drafted a handful when they drafted Sean Williams, a kid from Boston College who tried to sink his own pro ambitions and sunk his college team's chance at the Final Four because he was such a dope about dope.

The Nets didn't get an Eagle Scout in Williams anymore than the Knicks got one with Randolph.

But if they can keep him out of trouble and on the court, know this about Williams:

He is one of the most naturally gifted shot blockers to come out of college basketball in a very long time.

And has a chance to be a bigger player for R. Thorn than Randolph will ultimately be for I. Thomas.

Randolph and Williams are competly different players. Randolph is an offensive orriented big that is a bad defender. Williams is a defensive orriented big that is a bad offensive player.

It depends on what type of bigman the Nets were looking for that will determine who the getter risk was.

I think Williams would do just fine here in NJ. Not great, but should do the job.

I think that if Williams comes out with Energy, Kidd and Carter can make him into a good player on offensive side. We know he can block shots and rebound and If he does that we'll be happy, but he is very athletic, So all we have to do is have him with energy on offense and Kidd and Carter will find ways to give him passes and he ust has to jump up and dunk or just grab the ball and throw it down. Look at Mikki...Yes h has a jumper but a lot of his baskets are passes to him right at the hoop...Im sure Sean can do the same as that.
